I haven't yet tried this... but I suspect it might work.

O'Reilly has a $7 gift card rebate (max 2 per household) on Valvoline Premium Blue. Their current sale price is $15.

Tractor supply lacks a rebate, but has it on sale for $12, available in store on the shelf. It's not something online only.

O'Reilly claims "Our retail locations do have a low price guarantee and will match the price of most local competitors." See where I'm going with this? :D

Yeah they say "most", so maybe Tractor Supply doesn't count or maybe somehow motor oil is excluded, but it's worth asking! If that works, you can get 2 gallons of it for $5 each after the rebate if they honor TSC's $12 sale price.

I will be trying this in a few days since I'm due for an oil change. I used Premium Blue last time when it was on sale with a rebate like this and it seems to do ok, not burning excessively. I didn't realize they had price match or I would have tried it then.

EDIT: A way to maybe ensure you get the price match is to go buy a $12 gallon at TSC first, then take the receipt to O'Reilly as proof of the price. You'll need 3 gallons anyway for an IDI, no matter which oil filter you use, so that'll be your third gallon plus the two with rebates.

Their sales with rebates are ok. Comes out $8/gal after the rebate based on the current $15 sale price.

I might just grab two from O'Reilly (even if they won't price match Tractor Supply or Napa) for the rebate deal. It costs $6 more now vs Tractor Supply, but costs $8 less after the rebates. I got the rebate gift cards last year on the same oil deal and ended up using them almost immediately on 3/8" fuel hose I needed.

I have about 1.5qt left in a Prem Blue jug from last year and a sealed jug of Valvoline MaxLife 15w40 I got a year ago on clearance at Walmart when they quit selling it in stores. (It's still available site-to-store).

It needs to get used and it'll save me $12 vs buying a third Prem Blue. It will get rid of an extra gallon jug out of my cabinet too. 2 Prem Blue+1 MaxLife+1.5 old leftover = 13.5qts. I'll still have 2.5qts for topping off without having to buy anymore, at least until I burn through that too. But I'll worry about that then. Tractor Supply's everyday price on Prem Blue is $15, same as Walmart's Valvoline MaxLife (no one else sells it) so it's not too much more expensive to buy later if I need another gallon for topping off.

Mixing two kinds of Valvoline should be fine. Heck, I've mixed 2 or 3 different brands in my F250 before, due to finding different kinds in small quantities on clearance, then topping off with SuperTech. (It's a fairly heavy oil burner) I wouldn't go out of my way to mix, but just doing so casually shouldn't matter. I still have a single 1qt bottle of Motorcraft 15w40 from that, which I keep as an emergency spare.

The first O'Reilly's I asked price matched Tractor Supply. I pulled up the site on my phone and handed my phone to the cashier so she could see. So I got 2 gallons for $25.96 w/tax to mix with the Maxlife 15w40 I already have. I should be about to claim the 2x $7 rebates even after price matching.
