I discovered by accident/chance that the bullet connectors used on the 7.3 Powerstroke valve cover gasket/glow plug harness are really good, and have 2-4" of wire on them, so they work great to repair IDI glow plug harnesses.

SO... anybody have any junk valve cover harnesses laying around? I find myself in need of 8 good female bullets and I can't find those particular female ends anywhere but in those Powerstroke harnesses.

Thanks

Well I’ve got some used 7.3 powerstroke ends on a harness I made going on 2 years now on with 0 issues.

I tried the 6.0 harness before and they didn’t stay tight enough, particularly around that one bolt casting in the intake manifold. I’d always find one loose every time I checked.

Every other crimp-on bullet receptacle I’ve seen without plastic molded around it has a seam in the metal which always loosens up after a few months.

I wouldn't mess with the powerstroke connectors.
they get deep fried with every cycle.
old PSD harnesses will have brittle insulation and not really worth reusing.
I will say that of the 3 7.3 PSDs I've taken apart('00 at 230K, '02 at 385K and a '97 at 499K miles respectively), the harnesses looked just fine... Not brittle, totally reusable(and I did on two of those three). I keep hearing that they get fried etc... but I sure haven't seen it.

I got my hands on one gasket from a friend who had a parts engine.

I tell you, those ends just fit REALLY WELL onto glow plugs. Wish I had found 8 but at least one half of the harness I was fixing has good ends now.

If you have a 'stroke harness and the wires aren't brittle, save the glow plug ends off it for an IDI harness!
