sound deadening

I started working on the interior, and the sound deadening.

I have everything torn out of the cab, and I bought a bunch of sound deadening, 144sqft to be exact. Based on a bunch of research, i went with this stuff.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VE157CK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The reason is, this is most focused on sound blocking, vs some of the other brands that are trying to be heat blocker / echo reducer / sound blocking all in one

I dowloaded a db meter for my phone and took some before and after measurements. So far I have only done the underside of the hood, and here are the results. I'll post more results as I add more deaden-er to the cab.

anyway, these are the results with a bare cab, and before and after putting a layer of deadening under the hood blanket, ill try to put the pics in order.
we have outside the truck before doing the hood.
inside the truck before doing the hood.
outside the truck after doing the hood.
and inside the truck after doing the hood.

Just scanning through your build again. The Amazon link is no longer valid. Do you happen to remember the specs on the stuff you bought? Basically just the thickness, would love to compare to the stuff that I used. Thanks!

This is the stuff i used. Looking at the picture, it looks like it has been redesigned slightly, but the specs and brand and seller match what i bought.

Well ****.
Looks like those compression gasses have been tunneling their way between #1 and #2 for a long long time.
They finally made it.
They must be so happy to see their hard work finally pay off. LOL

I don't have a pic of it, but there is a matching "grand cannon" in the cylinder head.

damn. any ideas how that happened? what made you pull it apart?

All of the sudden running on 2 cylinders was the reason for pulling it apart.

All I can guess is, this engine was over heated at some point in its previous life, causing a slight leak in that spot.
Then over time, here we are.
I dont run enough fuel, or enough boost, or tug around enough weight for this thing to have ever even broken a sweat. temp hasnt ever been over 185 while I've had it.

Dang, gonna find another block? Looks pretty deep.

Not sure what I'm going to do. I wont be trying to patch this block up, even if its possible, I don't think its worth it. So for now, there are 4 visions dancing in my head, no particular order.

Those 4bt parts have gotten pretty pricey around here, what does a reman long block go for?

The 4bt ranger combo is too cool to kill. There is one locally here for $2700 with ve pump, fresh top end ready to go.
Look up Conrad Broom on facebook marketplace.

i am sorry to see that happen to such a cool truck. i understand though that cost is a factor that cannot be ignored in what to do. i really do like the 4BT's but the price seems to really push them into the "hard to justify" realm.

do you think this was a contributor to the hold start issue you had?

I’ve been trying to talk him into a Coyote swap but he just won’t budge.

LOL

that or heck i have been reading up on some ecoboost swaps! it looks like you can buy engines and stand alone computers right from Ford but the 4BT starts looking like a good deal compared to those $$$ numbers LOL
