Just put a MBRP S6200P Turbo Back Single Side Exhaust System on my 2000 F250. Surprised how much difference it made. Discharged right behind right rear tire (routed up over axle). Amazon $329 +free shipping to my door in an 80lb box.

I just finished my new exhaust a few days ago. It was straight piped with the factory exhaust, and after the y it went to some 2.75" pipe I had around. LOUD!
I did 2.5" and mandrel bends from the manifold collectors going into a dual 2.5" in, single 3" out and a 3.5" tip.
This is a new muffler from Cherry Bomb - the Salute. It is very impressive because it's fully stainless steel and well designed, but cost $36. I got a 3" in, 3" out for another truck and it is very nice too.
It has a quiet and low rumble but opens up when you're really on it, so it's just basically a big glasspack. I'm very happy with it so far.
My EGT also dropped by 50 degrees or more. I was at 550-600 at 70 mph, and the last two days I have been 500-550 with the new exhaust. I also dropped from 1,000-1,050 degrees on a big hill to just 850-900. After a few weeks to break the muffler in I'll put a before and after video up on youtube. The only thing I regret with a muffler is losing my jake brake!

Y pipe before, vs dual 2.5 after. I would habe put an x or h right in there but didn't have the motivation.

Another tidbit, summit racing has polished stainless 3" in, 3.5" out tips for only $15 right now.

Check out the MBRP quiet tone mufflers. I put one on my IDI and jeez, it actually made a difference! I live on top of a hill and this thing is LOUD coming home. Just gotta get to insulating the oil pan now...
What do you mean by insulating the oil pan? Does that quiet down the engine noise from the outside? I'm planning on soundproofing my fenders and hood to make it sound a little less like the schoolbus that it is.

You have to yell next to my truck, you can talk next to my friends LB7

My banks factory exhaust does really well, but that's with a turbo already quieting it down

The oil pan is the only thing separating the crank case from outside, and straight under that is open air.

For example, a small square of that peel n seal or whatever it is, applied to the pan absorbs a lot of that rattle and chatter from the diesel.

Some guy on a Cummins forum makes a lot for 24v Rams. Valve cover, oil pan, rocker panel, hood and fender insulation.

We are thinking of the same thing, insulated hood, fenders, the whole shebang to get these things to not be obnoxiously loud even idling.

Never get a diesel van if you don't like noise. It's far louder due to how it's situated and with the plastic doghouse cover. If it's windy and I'm doing 65, my cheap radio maxed out on volume is mostly drowned out. The same exact radio in my F250 (I swapped it) wasn't drowned out as badly. Maybe it's the speakers in here though, dunno. If it's not windy and the RPMS are lower (no factory tach for vans) it's not so bad.

I kinda like the diesel rattle. Those new diesels lost their way, but maybe its cost hp to make noise. My two sons make much more power and are quite (2004 ford and 2014 ford)[emoji1]

Kinda makes you feel sad for them that their trucks don’t sound like trucks right?

I’m sure the multiple injections do help with emissions, but one reason they have worked to quiet the engines is actually noise complaints. People jumping on the diesel bandwagon complained about how noisy they were compared to their gasser. I have to shut the truck off at the drive up...... so they worked to make them quiet.....

I’m glad my 6.0 is still noisy, compared to the 6.4/6.7 and the other manufacturers. Mine at still sounds like a diesel..... and yes, I have to shut it off at the drive thru.......

I used to have to do that with my 1984 Mustang too. It had mufflers on it.

Walker 21470 BTM, as previously mentioned. My kids love the straight pipe, but my neighbors prefer the BTM.
