My stater has a dead spot and is on the verge if dying. What would be a good affordable and reliable stater to replace mine with?

This is a good example of why we ask that you put your vehicle information in your signature. What year is your truck and type of engine. Please include any mods and/or programming to the stock motor/PCM. If these things are added to your signature, by going to your Name in the Black line, above, and clicking on "Signature". Fill out the information and you are done and maybe I won't have to ask again. :Thumbs Up

Most starters I've ran have been from autozone. Have lasted through some decent fuel issues. Lol
They're about all the same these days. Hit or miss.

I always figure for easier to replace stuff like that the best part is the one with the best warranty. My imprezas axles love to blow out and autozone replaces them for free every time since I got the lifetime warranty

Exactly, the best BUDGET starter is whichever one has the best warranty. That way when it dies you can exchange it.

Agreed. Swapped many starters with lifetime warranty at auto zone. No questions asked.

I even have a chewed up flywheel (on a work truck) that eats up the teeth on the starter about every 2 months. No questions asked, auto zone replaces it. Fixing to do it again tomorrow morning :D I do have a new flywheel for it but haven’t had time to change it out.

Autozone warranteed some brake pads once. I was just going to buy a new set, they remembered me buying them and said they should be under warranty. Lol
Yeah, I used to spend a lot of time in there. Basically had my own computer.

I was getting ready to buy one of these starters. We had a thread on here awhile back and guys on here said they liked it. I bought one of their gear reduction PM starters for my Tahoe and it works well. You can't beat the price.

I think they sell this same starter on Amazon if you have some sort of money saving deal going on there.

I kept wondering why you were asking about a stater. Wondered if you had an electric truck... ;):D

I got all excited because I thought this thread was about motorcycles or ATVs. I was going to suggest Ricky Stator. Then I realized that it wasn't stator that was spelled wrong. It was just starter spelled wrong.:joker:

I just fix up the ones I have from part’s trucks, replace brushes and solenoids and they work great, still running the one I fixed up in 2011, got another to fix up soon for a spare. Can’t beat less than 60-70 bucks around my area, new starters here at $350+.

On my newer truck with an automatic I don't want the cheapest starter out there. If it dies out in the woods, miles from no where and no cell service it is dead and no pull starting it. Put a Napa starter on it some time back and it went out in 6 months. Luckly I was in their parking lot at the time.

Depending on your local store, you can have free brakes for life. Some oreilys will tell you to do it.

If you want the best starter possible I'd suggest finding a semi truck starter re builder, mine was done for $180 by a shop in Anchorage, truck cranks perfectly
