So I am completely stumped as to why my IDI isn't getting any electrical power.

Back in Oct i parked my IDI as i had a list of things to replace on it such as: headlight controller + plug (plug was burned out and headlights flickering on and off), signal light/wiper/highbeam controller, CDR valve (was spewing oil right in the intake), water pump, changing coolant, and changing out the Autolites for the ZD9 glow plugs.

Before I did any of that disconnected the batteries.

Now I finally got all that done earlier this week and when I reconnected the batteries I had no power coming from them period. Not even a flicker from the dash or slow crank. It was just as If there were no batteries connected at all. It had sat for several weeks so i thought maybe my batteries were that dead so I got my load tester out and they tested weak but I still should have got something out of them. I also thoroughly cleaned the terminals as well as the battery cable connections. Checked the fuse box and didn't see anything wrong in there. Hooked everything back up and still no power. Thinking that the batteries themselves might have dead cells (They're like 5-7 years old) or something along those lines I just said screw it and went and bought two brand new NAPA batteries and hooked them up but there's still no change.

Something possibly noteworthy Is that when I initially disconnected the batteries I had to really fight the cables off the posts on the passenger side battery since the positive was extremely corroded
but I never saw any damage from removal.

I am officially out of ideas and ready to drag it to the local diesel shop unless someone else points out something I'm missing.

Thanks

I would bet that the batteries are shot. I would get a pair of new ones and try again. I would think you will find better results. :Thumbs Up

Get a test light and follow the power until it stops.
