Hi in the Cascades, Nearly- Redmond,Oregon
Well I've run Holly Red & Blue for yrs & they done me good so far on both trucks. Got a Red on Bessie now & It's been going now about 5-6 yrs.
Got a Mr Motor w/regulator sitting on the shelf.
Don't know about why, but I've never hooked up a regulator with any of mine. So far they always have operated ok, under hard pull/loads, cruising, trips, run-to-7-Eleven, everything. Run diesel, WMO, WVO, straight, cut.
I may be doing something wrong to my trucks without a reg...????

Thanks for the info, how long/how many hours do you have on the Walbro?

I just installed 2 about 3 months ago tops. Probably 50hrs on the idi application and about 300 on the DT466 application. So not much, but so far so good. No hiccups at all. The one on the 466 is mounted higher and further from the tank and actually puts out a consistent 5-7psi which is more then the idi application but the 466 also returns less fuel then the idi so there is less flow requirements

What do you guys think about R&D fuel pump/filter setup? Is it worth the money and is the pump itself a long lasting unit? I'm thinking of relocating the stock filter to get cleaner looking IC pipes and engine bay. Also what do you think about not having a filter heater. If the weather gets bad it might get as cold as -40 when driving, so will the fuel gel up? But then again in that cold weather does the oem heater be sufficient either...

With the fuel heater, it's common for people to delete it because they commonly leak and people seem to have no issues with it gelling up.

It also tries to heat the fuel from the top down which doesn't make sense since heat rises. I think it's pretty much a joke.

Idi fuel system uses a universal Walbro inline pump similar to the GSL392.

If you had the time it's a pretty easy setup to build.

If I was to go the high bypass flow pressure regulator type, would rather use the powerstroke unit.

I JUST INSTALLED THE "DURALIFT" PUMP MADE BY FACET. WENT WITH THE ONE THAT PUTS OUT 4-7 PSI. I DID THIS BECAUSE I HAD MAJOR AIR INTRUSION BETWEEN MY TANK AND THE FUEL FILTER HOUSING. HARD STARTING AND LOTS OF ANGER! SO, I SCRAPPED THE MECHANICAL LIFT PUMP AND COVERED THE OPENING WITH A COVER AND GASKET I BOUGHT ON AMAZON THAT WAS RECCOMMENDED FOR THIS VERY PROJECT. I WIRED THE NEW DURALIFT PUMP OFF OF MY SOLENOID THROUGH A TOGGLE- SWITCH AND AN IN-LINE 4 AMP FUSE IN MY CAB AND THE UNIT IS STRAIGHT UP LEGIT! IT STARTS ON THE FIRST CRANK. I DID THE TOGGLE SWITCH ROUTE BECAUSE THERE WAS ALREADY ONE IN MY CAB THAT HAD WIRES GOING OUT THROUGH MY FIREWALL AND WERE ABONDONED IN PLACE BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER. MADE FOR AN EASY INSTALL. I WENT OUT THIS MORNING PREPARED FOR A LITTLE BIT OF A TOUGH COLD START, AND NOPE, RIGHT AWAY IT FIRED UP! I HAVE NOTHING BUT THANK YOU TO SAY TO ALL WHO POSTED THEIR STORIES ON HERE ABOUT CONVERTING TO THE ELECTRIC LIFT PUMP! IT IS THE REAL DEAL!. I AM A FIRST TIME DIESEL OWNER AND HAVE BEEN BAPTIZED BY FIRE WITH THIS TRUCK! NEW CALIPERS AND PADS ON THE FRONT, NEW FRONT INNER AND OUTER WHEEL BEARINGS, NEW BLOCK HEATER, NEW FUEL FILTER, NEW MOTOCRAFT GLOW PLUGS, NEW ALTERNATOR, NEW THERMOSTAT, AND A FRESHLY FLUSHED COOLANT SYSTEM. NOW, I AM PREPARING FOR NEW CAMBER BUSHINGS AND A FEW OTHER THINGS DUE TO HAVING AN ANNOYING TIRE/FENDER RUB WHEN BACKING UP WHILE TURNING THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT. I MAY BE JUST CHANGING OUT THE TIE-RODS, BALL JOINTS, AND WHATEVER ELSE IS LOOSE UP FRONT, BUT DON'T WANT TO UNTIL SPRING IF POSSIBLE.

Just ordered a Holley blue and regulator kit thanks to wes for the sale link. What's the deal with bypass regulator or returning to filter. I have a diy fuel system with dual napa filter heads and thought of just returning to filters instead of tank

I may totally wrong on this, but I thought that the regulator is usually installed prefilter.

As to where to plumb the reg. , it is a restriction thus it would cause the loss of regulated pressure to i.p.

Mat, do some reading if you tow heavy....
I don't haul too heavy other than maybe a cord and a half of firewood at once. Had no issues so far. I pulled a 20' tandem trailer with an Allis Chalmers WD-45 on it. I am sure more pressure on demand is better, but I have had no problems yet.

ALL CAPS is hard to read, and gets obnoxious quickly.

You said something about Facet pumps?

Sorry also about all caps. I have a job where I use a program that requires it and I forget to change the all caps to non-caps. Yes, I bought the 5-7 psi Facet Duralift fuel pump. I love it so far. However, I bought a lemon of a truck. I have been wrenching on it non-stop since I bought it. When I got home after the purchase, the odometer stopped working along with the speedometer. Both right and left front wheel bearings started giving me issues. Front calipers started hanging up. The mechanical lift pump was bad and I was getting air intrusion. The thermostat went bad, and the battery gage started going from charging to not charging before and after the new internal VR Regulator Alternator install. I replaced the glow plug wiring harness. Now my passenger front wheel is leaning in badly at the top leading me to believe that the camber bushing is in need of replacement. I am frustrated as F--k right now!
