ok so prior to installing my 7.3 in my superduty I rebuilt the oil cooler. I also did a compression check and all cylinders were right around 400. After about 10 minutes of running the engine in chassis the oil has taken on a grayish color almost white. i have seen worse than this before in gassers. There is no missfire and it cranks right up however im concerned about head gaskets or a cracked head/block. There is some oil residue in the surge tank so I am praying I botched the cooler rebuild. Does anyone know if a hydrocarbon test will work on a diesel engine?

Just wondering: did you pressure test the oil cooler when you had it off? They can be prone to corroding/pinholing.

Lastly: you said "7.3 in your SuperDuty": is this an IDI or a Powerstroke?

Personally I would do a cheap oil change (tractor supply has 5 gal buckets of 15-40 for just under $50)
Then see if it comes back. You could also pressure check the cooling system. (Drain oil. Leave drain plug out, then check)

You put and IDI in a SuperDuty, that is one of the coolest things you could ever do! What year is the truck and picture of the build would be much appreciated.

I would check the oil cooler and see if you pinched an o-ring or a problem with cooler itself. I would definitely stop running the engine until you have the problem figured out. coolant in the oil is pretty rough on bearings.

Yup only have had 10 minutes of idle time bleeding the system when I found it
