I use a large pair of water pump pliers. You may not be able to get those in there either though. I'll second the strap wrench idea.

Thanks for the strap wrench suggestions, I'll look for one when I'm in town.
I did just spend the last several days w/ a no start issue. I eventually tracked it down to a drop in voltage from the terminal to the cable. New military style batt clamps and having a shop clean and put new ends on the cables helped. After that it fired right up. :-]

I think you will love that one Junk suggested. The strap wrench made from seat belt like material and square hollow steel tubing that fits 1/2 inch drives.

I have one too.

The more the filter fights, the harder it grips. I had a rubber one... didn't work worth squat. Just slipped once oil got on it.

Oreillys has a Pennzoil 19400 for $8 or so that stands vertical alongside filter and uses 1/2" ratchet. Takes little space and works great. Now in truck box. Watch the bandanna trick video for no tools removal idea also.

Ok now I am on the side of the road.
I think it's the belt idler pulley that failed and dropped the belt. That's if I'm seeing it right. It's the same size and lower than the tensioner.
Does that pulley come off, or is it a whole unit that I have to replace?

Ok, back running and off the side of the road.
I did have to buy new tools, didn't have any torques/star bits and needed one to remove the pulley.

I looked into a new belt while I was at Napa. How do I tell if I have the "Ambulance package" on mine?
