Hi all. Just an old fart in tax hell with couple diesels. I am semi retired as they laughingly say with Navy heavy big diesel maintenance and later electronics training / repair and finally nuclear power plant maintenance. Back to the diesels, the one applicable to this forum is 93 F350 7.3 with AT and Banks Sidewinder kit. Found it in SC when on vacation and drove back day after I bought it. Other diesel is 92 Mercedes 300D w AT and stock turbo. The 7.3 has been resting in the yard all Winter while I used my beater Ram 1500 for wood and dump runs. Hope to make some mods to Ford like lift kit (to allow oil pan removal) and more reliable fuel system. Ran out of fuel on freeway coming from SC because seller did not tell me engine sucks air at 1/4 tank both tanks so that is first repair on list. But don;t let me ramble. Hope to add info to forum and/or aid some nearby members. Later

Hi mu2bdriver and saburai and thanks for welcome. Just got Teddy running again after chasing air leaks and 10amp hidden drain (fuse 6 fuel tank selector). Really should pull oil pan and check rod bearings but common wisdom indicates need to lift cab 4" to clear cross member and Banks downpipe. Oh well, had nothing planned for next 2 weeks anyway!

Where are you in the state? There are plenty of members in CT. Most reluctantly so. Reluctantly staying in the state, not on the forum.

welcome!! im in the RI/MA area so probably not far.

typically to do anything oil pan related you have to pull the engine. no need to lift the cab. you do have to remove all turbo parts to pull the engine.

I'm in Mystic area and thought 4" lift would allow engine lift w/o removing turbo parts etc. Would also need to check timing after I pop injectors since she is new to me. Have engine hoist good enough to lift spare engine out of bed but not sure if good enough to pull/install one. Already tipped over and pinned me to garage floor ( I know working alone in garage, no cell phone, bent hoist leg, etc, etc.).
