A/C question

Does anyone know the AC in these trucks? Mines a 97, doesn't appear to have any issues with the flapper doors, AC gets moderately cold I can live with that, after idle 10 mins or so in 100+ weather AC starts to get pretty warm then takes a good 20+ min drive to get it to feel decent in the cab. Also I hear a pinging sound when AC is running, definitely not clutch cycling, it's more like a semi-rapid tick

Looked at the condenser? May need cleaned out.
Also, iirc, most dodges use the thermal expansion valve. May need replaced, but watching the pressures would tell you.

Condenser is clean, radiator on the other hand has a fair amount of bugs I'll clean out tonight, I have a 12" electrical fan from an 80s suburban w. 454 I've rigged to fit, hopefully it'll help... That radiator, intercooler, condenser, oil cooler sandwich is alotta metal for the mechanical fan. Just gotta wire it up and find out to if it helps or not. I'll post some pics of my ghetto rigged fan... Didn't want to but "desperate times call for desperate measures"

Your additional fan isn't going to do much. Those electric jobs have to be sealed to the condenser/radiator the entire way around or they won't push much.

Do you still have the shroud on the mechanical fan? What about all the plastic fairing around the radiator? The clutch on your mechanical fan could be going out too. Your noise might be a bad valve in the compressor.

Like jasper said, a set of gauges is the starting point. See what the pressures are when it starts to blow hot.

The shroud is definitely there, not sure about the other plastics but truck was done right until my electric fan job haaha , I didn't even think about the clutch ill look into it then see if I can hunt a relative with gauges, thanks guys!
