Went up to the Sacramento delta the past weekend , good trip

On the way up my truck kept dropping out of OD at random 3 times then it was fine , going to replace the switch controller at the neutral safety switch location

On the way back my truck over heated , thought I was low on coolant , turns out my thermostat was stuck closed, ended up taking the thermostat out on the side of the freeway and over the grapevine we went no issue (radiator isn’t in the best of shape)

Going to boil some water and test the thermostat , says 195f on the lip. Napa part

Also I saw a leaking injector or return line on cylinder #6

Anyways will post in a week or so with test results and solutions

Lots of bad reported thermostat performance from every brand other than OEM International/Ford thermostats.

Considering the Motorcraft one is only $23 online or $28 at oreilly, its silly not to get it. Trying to save $10-15 with aftermarket ones is a poor choice.

Agreed.

I lost the engine in my Toyota due to stuck shut theromstat. All the time my coolant temperature sensor, mounted in the radiator, kept telling me everything was hunky dory while my engine was literally running dry. By the time I sensed something was amiss, I already had irreparable damage.

Same. Had an 88 which was in pristine shape, sensor wigged and stuck tstat cooked my motor. Dad and I dropped a long block 22r in it, all mechanical gauges after that.
