double check, but that should be your tank
I have both 2 and 4wd trucks, the 4x4 sits high enough that I just used some 5/8" threaded rod to extend the spare tire carrier
I could do it on the 2wd, but it would sit pretty low. I used to toss a spare in the bed when I needed it. now I have a swing out carrier from a bronco
I was just looking at a website where a guy did this upgrade and did the same thing, mounted the spare under the 38 gal tank. Looked ok for a work rig application and most things it would be fine for! PO ditched mine so I'd have to JY one.
Although... I LOVE the idea of the Bronco swing out style! That's good thinking.

I know that it's a PITA to have the spare in the bed, but I prefer it to be there. Years ago, I got tired of having to lay on the wet, muddy, snowy, etc. ground to get the spare out from underneath the bed so I started throwing it in the bed. Just my opinion.

That's a pristine benefit to a Dually. I only toss a spare in the bed if I'm going on long trips, if I'm local, I always have a couple spares on the back! :p

Agreed, unless you have a cabover camper in the bed. This is only a few times a year but also the hardest on tires and would be a rough time not to have a spare! That's my personal reason for other storage.

And this is why I have to get my spare mounted back underneath the bed.:(

I've seen 70's era Fords with a cutout in the bed, forward of the rear tire where the spare mounts against the frame. I've often dreamed of the same setup on mine... then it's always out of the way and no crawling on the ground with a long drive ahead of you.

I always wanted to do that also. I don't know if there is enough room between the cab and rear tire as the Camper specials had a longer 140" wheel base. Here is a good article about them.

That's cool and an interesting article. I've seen a couple of Dentsides with a toolbox in the front, driver's side of the bed, but never one of these. After reading that article, I know that the guy who sold me the 1975 F250 Ex cab was lying when he told me that it was a Camper Special. I was pretty sure of it at the time, but now I know for sure.
