Well, the por is done, I'm completely covered. Engine goes back in today hopefully! My super pregnant and completely uninterested wife sitting there saying boy you're committed... Sure is hot out here... Does it really all need to be covered? ...

Got the engine in today. Alone. With minimal damage lol. Gotta do some touch up painting.

Anybody had any problems moving the fuel filter down to the frame? I'm going to figure something out for the bleeder up near the engine but... I cut the bracket from the engine and kind of mocked it up. I'm going to weld flanges in the highlighted areas and mount it in this location so the fuel line goes in the back of the filter and the outlet will go straight to the fuel pump mounted in front of it. Just wanted some opinions. Also, I'm rewrapping the entire harness with better tape so while I'm in the process, I'm going to move the factory fuel filter wires back to this location also and wrap them with the factory wires already going back there.

I think 2 reasons why the filter is mounted on the engine from the factory in original spot: It was supplied with the engine so nothing separate to track or install. And where it is gets some heat from the engine in arctic conditions and avoids road spray. If those don’t apply to you then this is all upside. I have a 30 micron primary on the frame of the 86 and had it down to zero with no issues just kept the Power Service in there. Might consider a quality full port ball valve to stop the siphon from the tank while changing filter or working on the pump.

I think I may put a brass ball valve on the back of the fuel filter housing before the barb connecting the tank and the outlet of the electric pump. I bought a facet pump before I read a whole lot about them. Gonna see how long it lasts. Thanks for the help man!

I'm not sure if it would make much difference or not, but you may think about installing one on both sides of the filter. that way, when you change filters, all of the fuel won't drain back from the engine. I'd think that this would help with faster starting after a filter change.

Is there supposed to be a gasket between the front cover and the oil pan or do you guys use rtv? I'm going to put the front of the engine back together today. Any trouble spots that need special care?
