Ditched the worn out Duratracs on 16x8 wheels for a new ser of Firestone Destination MT's on 16x10 Mickey Thompson MT Classic II wheels and replaced my leaky air bags. Some final prep for the rally trip.

Adjusted and tightened up my ignition switch and replaced a seized ignition lock cylinder. It's nice having a truck that reliably starts and doesn't pop when turning the key from off to run. Now to do a 3G alternator swap later this week...

Had to do a thermostat so while I had the alternator off decided to replace the power steering pump (I know it's opposite side of engine bay), and change all the belts a few were pretty cracked

Drove out into the mountains this weekend with the camper for a quick near anniversary trip with the wife. Tested out the newly restored A/C the whole way back today, and managed to make both of us cold. A/C worked great and the truck decided to allow the passenger power window to start working again!

After a bunch of investigating, I found the pivot behind the outside door handle was rusted solid which prevented my rear left door from opening. Took everything apart, cleaned , greased and put back together. Rear left door now opens, closes and locks. Also put a new pig tail behind the front passenger door so the interior light comes on when you open it. Gotta troubleshoot the rear door jamb switches as neither will initiate the cab light.

Replaced shift bushing and installed back up camera.
What did you end up doing for a backup camera. I have been considering one for my truck with the camper. Kinda want a better view behind since people seem to like to get closer to me with the camper than without.

I decided to do something productive to the truck today so I decided to do a 3g swap. After I got out the needed tools, the first thing I noticed was that the alternator pivot bolt had backed out (***?). Ok, maybe I forgot to tighten it all the way back up a few weeks back during my alternator excitement in Colorado. I started taking it out and it seemed to come out fairly easily. I looked at the bolt and noticed that it had broken off! -cuss:cry: So I took the vacuum pump off of the bracket and removed the mounting bracket. I was picturing taking the filter head mounting bracket off so I could take it to work with me in the morning to drill out the broken piece. That was before I realized that I have a couple of extras sitting around. When the alt/vp mounting bracket was almost off, I noticed that there was enough of the broken bolt sticking out that I could get a pair of Vise Grips on it:Thumbs Up. Just for S&G, I grabbed the broken piece and was able to unthread it by hand:cheers:. I started looking for another bolt in my tool box (it's called a "pack rat drawer" for a reason), but couldn't find the right one. I found a couple that were shorted, but I didn't want to take the chance of it not grabbing enough threads. I did find one that is about 1/2" longer, so I'm going to grab some washers tomorrow and try to finish the install. That will also be a great time to install my new alternator belt. Fingers crossed for no more excitement with this project!

Finally! Success with the 3G swap!:Thumbs Up Tuesday, I started on it and found the broken pivot bolt. Wednesday, while I was just trying to tape the wires together temporarily to make sure I had it wired right, I started feeling dizzy from the heat. I said F this!. I put the tools on top of the air cleaner, put stuff away, closed up the garage, and hopped on the motorcycle and rode the 15 miles back home. Last night, as a precaution, I just came home from work and didn't go back outside until I left for work this morning. This evening, I finished taping up the wires and the voltmeter read 14.2 volts, 14.0 with the lights on so I guess it must be wired right. Thanks Wes! Then I pulled the tape off, soldered the wires, and covered the solder with heat shrink. The voltmeter still showed 14.2 volts after all of that so it must still be right. This heat is ******* a person. Normally, that job should have only taken me three hours or so instead of three evenings!

Better three evenings than someone finding you passed out! My dad passed out from heat exhaustion once, scared the crap out of us. One minute he was fine, next minute he was passed out on the concrete floor in the garage.
