So after a month of scratching my head being told it’s hydrolock or maybe a bad injector I still can’t find the source the problem at first start up it shakes has a tap and smokes a whiteish blue almost as if it’s burning a quart of oil on the initial start up (oil level reads fine and hasn’t really burnt any) once warm the tap dies down the shaking almost stops and the smoke goes away what’s the possibility of this being a bad lifter or bad valve even you can barely hear the tap at idle but once you get it around 1200 it’s noticeable and sounds like a vehicle that doesn’t have any oil I’ve pulled valve covers rotated the engine and everything seems to be working properly any input is greatly appreciated

That’s good, typically you don’t want to replace some of the injectors, you want to replace them as a pressure matched set. If you crack one injector at a time, does the tick go away?

Probably a bent connecting rod tapping the counter weight on the crank, I’ve seen that once before on a hydrolocked na engine.

Bent rod probably. Have the same problem with all this rain. 2nd time around with good cowl seal.
Water gets in the regular air filter & had a flat cover over it this time.
It gets a turbo installed this time around.

But would that cause it to smoke then once it’s warm the smoke goes away

And the miss makes me scratch my head too because I know the bent rod would make it shake but how would it make it miss I’m a ****** when it comes to diesels

Not having the same compression as other cylinders. Have you had a lot of rain & what condition is the cowl seal at rear of hood where the hood meets the cab?
