Vacuum cannister.

While I had things apart to do the headlights, I decided to remove the battery trays as well, and work on anything in those areas, that needed work.

Here is the best pic I have of the old can, in place. As you can see, it it completely rusty. It is collapsed on one side. And you can't see the holes, but there is one the size of a dime.

I made a new one out of PVC and ABS, and brass.

5" PVC pipe. About 8" long. Maybe a little less.

5" ABS end caps.

Used universal cement. Drilled and tapped the end for a 1/4" pipe fitting. Put in a street elbow to a barbed hose fitting.

Used gorilla silicone glue on the threads of the pipe fitting, when I screwed it into the plastic. Then used more of the gorilla silicone, all the way round the seams at the end caps. Just in case.

And there it is, dropped into the same spot that the old one was in. This thing will last longer than I will. Certainly longer than the truck.

The battery tray on the passenger side was really only supported by three bolts at the fender. The inner piece that is supposed to support the end of the battery nearest the radiator, was loose, and just laying in there. I imagine the battery probably had a bit of a bouncy ride, with it like that.

I bought some bolts and nuts and got that battery tray and it's supports all bolted back in, the way they should be.

I forgot to show a pick of that headlight support panel, after it was fixed.

Here is a shot of it after the headlight was installed, and the panel was re-affixed to the front of the truck.

Now here is the front of the truck again, with that headlight panel and the headlights re-installed.

The driver's headlight trim and other lights installed.

And the front of the truck all restored to place, but with new headlights. Sorry it's blurry, it was getting pretty dark.

Awesome progress I'm still saving up cash for a project after u get my daily driver truck home this week.

Your attention to little details and home remedies has made this build more interesting.

Today, I got the taillights done.

Tomorrow is the day! I have to get the other truck started and get it out of my way, but once that is done, I am going to take this one out for a spin.

I may have to replace the starter on the other truck. If so, it'll be wednesday before I take the first test drive in this one.

Hey, what is the magic to getting the metal button out of the rearview mirror?

The metal button that gets glued to the windshield.

I am used to there being a screw of some sort that you can unscrew to get that metal button out. But there is nothing that I can see on mine.

The mirror was sitting on the seat when it got here. LOL I have to glue the metal button back to the windshield. But I can't do that until I can get the button out of the mirror.

If it was possible to slide it out... Believe me, I would have had it out long ago.

Starting to think someone glued the mirror to the button. Maybe I'll heat it up with a small torch and try again.

Not sure if I will be taking this out today or not.

I have bronchitis. And I feel miserable.

They said it could be walking pneumonia, because I am also always sick to the stomach.

Either way, I'll recover faster if I move around, but man, I do feel miserable.

Take it slow bud no need to rush, also try some light yoga as for the truck it'll be there when you are well.

It should be on my page here unde the fuel system parts, and in a recent post on the Facebook page with some injectors in the picture. $10 shipped for a set of 16
Hi Wes,

I have been looking all over the place here, and I can't find any page here that has a list of prices for particular parts.

I can occasionally see where you post pics and prices to specific things, but as a response to a thread.

I'd also like to have a look at parts like fuel check valves, and the prices to go with them.

Hoping you get a website going, pretty soon. :D

All the pricing is under the vendors section where I have separate threads for different types of products.
Check valves are $15 shipped, website should be up later this week.

Thank you. I swear I must be blind. I still can't find a vendors' section with threads for parts.

Meant to update that...

I got the button off!

Shoved a small screwdriver into the spot where you push down the spring. Kinda twisted that.

Still had to hold that in place, while holding another screwdriver on the opposite side of the button, and hitting that with a hammer.

Got it out of there, and yep. Coated with super glue.

I'll glue the button in place the next time I'm out there, and leave that for a few days before I put the mirror back on. If i's all kind of loose when I do so, I'll probably resort to the super glue trick, myself. Or maybe a spot of gorilla RTV.

Still not recovered from that creeping crud. Almost seems like my lungs are filling up again.

Still.. Really going to try to get an electric pump set up today. Only purpose in this pump is to prime the system before startup.

And maybe to experiment to see if it makes any difference. Not going to be set up in this way for very long. Then I'll choose between the two pumps.
