quick disconnect leaking

97 OBS powerstroke, leaking at the "quick disconnect" fuel line fittings below the PS pump on the drivers side. Haven't investigated further but wondering if I can replace with rubber diesel rated fuel line and clamps?

I've heard of people doing that.
The lines can be bought as a set, around $300 iirc. (Too much imo)
Orings can be replaced as well, but that's a pita.
Runner line and some heat shield would be my vote.

Fairly easy to just replace the fittings. Think it cost me around $50 for the fitting when I did mine.

If you take the old one to a tractor shop where they make hydraulic hoses you should be able to get a custom braided steel replacement pretty cheap.

If you have a stock fuel system the supply side is under suction and the return side has just the restriction of flow in the lines to build pressure. The spring lock couplings have one brown viton and one blue flourosilicone oring. They are replaceable with an oring pick and patience. Viton orings will be ok. I would be suprised if the orings are leaking, blue flourosilicone is nearly a lifetime oring.

Another interesting problem is that the steel tubing the push on couplers attach to is 5/16 on one side and 3/8 on the other. On the supply line. The return is 5/16 both sides. So if it is the supply hose itself you can either just clamp the crap out of it or use the replacement plastic couplers available at auto parts. They should have a 5/16 by 3/8 hose and 3/8 by 3/8 hose. Use diesel rated hose and clamps. I would heat wrap it due to the proximity to the exhaust.

Driving with the leak for now...really only shows up after a highway run from those fittings....few drips once parked.
