If it's what i think it is it shouldn't be to complicated, just a pain in the butt. Just take out the front bolts and jack up the cab enough so you can squeeze a grinder up in there to get the mount off. I've never done the actual mounts themselves on the cab but my father and I did the cab bushings back in January. while your down there your probably going to want to do the bushings, and if you do the fronts then you should also do the rear cab mounts so you don't run into alignment issues. You may have to do the bushings on your radiator core support, i'm not sure how many issues you will run into of you don't. My replacement of the bushings was all because my rad core support and my mounts for it were rusted out and and we decided that it could use the new bushings.

For those that may have missed my post #27...please read.
Again all good feedback and it all seems very promising, but as with some people, finances are a factor.

On thing I did not mention and this is more directed to the fellas suggesting I do the work myself. Well, I use to tackle any and all jobs however times have changed, we all have things/problems we're dealing with but, if I was younger or healthier I would consider the Cab job myself but I'm a rough 61 with two bad knees and hips, walk with a cane and some other health issue that I though would have ended my life back in 2012. That being said I stick to the easier stuff like brakes, oil change, water-pump r&r etc

With no free time to even get my own busted-up ass taken care of, my life is absorbed with taking care of my 90+ year old father without an ounce of help from any other family members, 2.5 years ago I even sold my boat to pay for his needed care. I never asked or looked for sympathy or a pity party from anyone, I just suck it up and do what I can do.

Many years back when my financial situation was much better I reached-out and searched for someone to do a complete frame-off restoration on my truck, that's how much she means to me and has been a great reliable friend. However, I couldn't find anyone to do the job and one guy just north of me in Pa was on his final restoration job. Even local shops didn't want it, their easy-peazy Ins work is quick easy money and "didn't want to tie-up their shop with my old truck".

I will stop by the body shop again to ask Bob Sr what he feels the cab swap may cost with paint etc and I recon if I can go that far ask about the lower Rad support. On the up side (kinda) his son said my frame doesn't look too bad, so that's a good thing...but I'm not in the position to keep chasing problems.
Thanks again fellas, your optimism is a nice mental boost.

I live not far from you. I go to delco often. You mentioned health, dont hesitate to hit me up if you need help with anything and I can also weld.
I hope the shop works out that would be the easiest.

UPDATE...the Cab swap is a no-go, even with the gracious donation of a rust-free cab and someone delivering it for a reasonable fee the financial cost is way beyond my reach.
That rust-free cab should go to some that can really make the best of it.

Bob (the shop owner) suggested to do the mount supports on my cab and at a latter time consider repairing the lower radiator support.
I sincerely thank you all for all the encouraging words and comments, Ray.

Update...truck is at the shop, interior is removed, grinding out the bad metal from the inside-down.
Shop parts suppler uses "Keystone" and they do not carry the actual rotted-out metal bushing area so...I told him about www.broncograveyard.com and info in post #17 from member tbrumm
My body shop will be making the call to confirm if they have the parts.

I am glad you are getting your truck repaired! As Catbird said, there are lots of places that have these sheet metal parts, so hopefully your shop guy can find some and get you back on the road soon!

I ordered most all my metal from LMC. It was decent for the most part. I replaced the front body mounts on mine as well.

After 16 days, tomorrow my truck will be done...the original written quote of $1,500 is no longer valid...it's MORE $$$$$! Needless to say I'm not happy about this, I had a budget to work with and why I agreed to the original price. Now, I'm being charged for next day shipping on sheet metal parts I was told the shop would make and I"m sure other "unforeseen issues"
Suppose I have no recourse, just suck it up and pay the bill...whatever it is now.

Is there a clause in the original quote that allows them to upcharge, or are they just telling you now at the end?:backoff

I'll admit it can be hard to accurately predict the extent of rust damage before tearing in. That being said, this isn't passing the smell test.

That's a very delco thing for the shop to do, no offense, and also against PA code.

I'm on the other side of the fence (work at a garage part time) and there's a provision 301.5 in PA that you have to have authorization from the customer, written or verbal, before proceeding to exceed the quote. The only way this isn't true, is if I tell you we charge $135 hour, and you say OK I want the floor repaired, theres no limition.

I would push back a bit Ray. As stated, what was in the contract?

On a side note this just happened to my wife. Signed a contract to have hardwood floors refinished. Contract had a set price, start (6/18) and completion date (6/25). Late yesterday they send a new contract and want $150 more since a guy worked a few hours Saturday. Nope, not happening. That is a violation of Maryland Home Improvement law.

If you have a written quote from him and you accepted his price prior to any time limitation listed on the quote (many quotes list the price as valid for 30 days or whatever), he can't charge more unless you authorize it. I'd hold his feet to the fire!
