My ac blows cold and it has different setting when you turn the knob but high barely feel like a light breeze when you are sitting back. I have to put my arms up to the vents just to get cool.

I bought a new blower motor which I think helped some but not by much if it did. It's got freon and it's not stuck on another vent as far as I can tell.

I drove my buddy's powerstroke and the ac pumped air out of those vents and felt like a normal ac should feel but it seems like something is wrong with mine. I just dont know what it could be.

Could the resistor have something to do with it? I even wired it straight to the battery to see if that would improve it and it didn't.

Use a shut-off valve to kill the supply of coolant to the heater core. My IDI van always blew warm AC until I eliminated the heat sink created by the heatercore. I basically turn off my heater core in April, and open the valve in September.

There's a little plunger vacuum actuated thingy under the dash just above passenger's feet on a brick, probably the same on an obs. Every year when I transition from heating to cooling, I use a ziptie to hold this plunger thingy closed. Sorry for all the none technical slang however I have no clue what the proper name is...... I know the plunger thingy isn't my problem, it's likely a vacuum leak somewhere or a pinched hose, however a ziptie once a year saves me the headache of trying to fix it correctly......

There's vacuum switch/motor on top of the air box, under the hood, that closes off outside air.
Mine failed and A/C wouldn't cool.
I found that POS after I installed a new A/C system (that I needed because the compressor shelled) and it wouldn't get below 56* (90* @ 70% ambient) ... anyway, I wired that ******* shut and my new A/C dropped to sub 30*

'but high barely feel like a light breeze'

Your evaporator coil may be plugged up with leaves, dirt and grime.... pretty common on these trucks.

More then likely your evaporator is plugged with leaves and crap, that’s the only thing that can restrict air coming out of your vents. The other thing to check is that you blend door doesn’t have something blocking it from moving and that it’s adjusted right to fully reach hot and cold setting correctly.

Check the suggestions above for air doors operation checks. I have also had the air door break inside the box. If I were to bet I would bet on the evaporator plugged with debris. I just did my 96 and it was amazing and disgusting at the same time. Even after the caked over surface was clean it took several more wash/ back flush blow operations using a/c coil cleaner between each step to get it back like new. Can’t wait to see how much better it is.

I just redid the entire AC system in my crew cab. About froze me out. Rip your air box apart and look at the evaporator core. Mine was pretty bad. They sell AC core cleaner at home improvement stores that you can use to clean it up.

That's what mine looked like when I took it out. I'm pretty sure I would have been disappointed if I hadn't cleaned or replaced it.

Not sure if 94 is the same but the cover for the hvac box on mine had 8 or so 5/16 head screws holding it together, plus a 1/2" head nut on top and a BOLT IN THE CAB UNDER THE DASH that goes the to the bottom. I wanted to stress that because I probably would have destroyed mine if I didn't know about that bolt.

Thanks guys. I've been looking for a place for the family and moving the past week all while working 8-12 hours 5 days a week.

The vacuum system was sealed. It was an airflow problem like some of yall suggested with the evaporator.

I cracked open the ac box and there was a think layer of what looked like mud and dust and pine straw mixed into a thick paste and was covering the coil.

I was able to open the top(couldnt get the bottom bolts out) and I took a wire and just scrapped the junk off and then took some brake cleaner and let it have it.

Air is pumping now and I dont gotta sweat in the truck while the ac is running lol.

I spent four hours cleaning my evap, waste of time. Cheaper to just replace the damned thing, then charge the system at the house.

If you are a novice to AC work, find someone around you to help. If you are in Texas, I will for some Miller Lite -Flame Thr
