Head gaskets leak oil?

Is it common for a head gasket on these motors to leak oil externally like down the front of the block area? My oil leak isn’t valve cover, it’s not the fuel block of plate, not the water pump bolt, and it’s coming from the front of the motor and basically it appears to be in the area of the head gasket and leaks extreme amounts of oil. Really hoping it’s not the head gasket

Timing cover been removed and resealed also that didn’t fix it either. Can the valley pan really leak that much? It’s got the holes poked in it and a new turbo pedestal grommet from Russ

Here is how I locate pesky upper engine leaks.

Presssurize the crankcase with about 3psi of air using a regulator. The dipstick acts a a safety valve. I can’t count the number of leaks such as this I have found. Mix up some bubble solution and go for it!
I adapt to the CDR valve and put the air in there.

Pictures of leak area, the gasket has since been sealed a second time where fuel pump was but it wasn’t the leak

You sure it's not diesel that's just dirty on the muck? Just a thought.

My IP Gear housing is leaking, have you verified that's not it? It's top and front and drips everywhere you have oil on yours.

Ip gear housing has been resealed, valve cover, fuel pump block off plate, water pump replaced and bolts sealed that pass into oil. Idk what one missing? Do any bolts for the front accessories pass into oil territory?

I downloaded your photo and adjusted the brightness/contrast to see I could get a better look at the block. I think the big problem is there is 1/4" thick of gunk on the block, obstructing any origin point. It might be the HG, but hard to tell under all that stuff.

Get a putty knife and scrape off that stuff. Then spray it with some of the engine degreaser and spray it off. Then run the engine for a while to see where the weeping occurs.

I'm still thinking this is diesel, but there is a remote possibility that is oil from the HG.

I don't think that it's a head gasket. head gaskets don't have oil pressure running through them. The oil just drains back through them by gravity only. It would be extremely hard to have a leak this way. I would think that just the weight of the head alone would be plenty enough to keep the oil from leaking.

Did you think about my trick of pressurizing the crankcase?

I never tried it but a shop vac on blow might even work.

What ever is leaking the oil is likely getting thrown out at higher rpm but not at idle.

Another less time saving approach is to block the throttle at 2000 rpm and observe. I have had it take 1/2 hour to show up and still be inconclusive due to air blast from the fan.
