Never posted here before and know very little bout the 6.0 engines but..Friend has these plugs leaking and engine wont run."another" forum told him to remove valve covers and change
the stand pipes and o rings to the plugs. Does this sound right? I know my 7.3 idi but just have no hands on experience with the 6.0. I have seen what The Diesel Treat has posted bout all the exciting work he does on these engines.

What year truck? That is a very important part....

The early 6.0 does not have these, but the later 6.0's have the Stand Pipes, dummy plugs and the STC (Snap To Connect) fittings that if they leak, can cause a no start / no run condition. These are in the High Pressure Oil side of the engine / injection system.

Best analogy to the IDI, imagine the pressure generated by the IP leaks off to the low pressure side of the pump and doesn't fire the injectors.....

The one to best answer some of these questions is Ron @Dsl_Dog_Treat He has worked on several 6.0-'s....... I'm not sure the "remove the valve covers and replace them", advice is quite that simple........

@icanfixall , Gary, you can call me and can walk you thru what needs to be done if you so desire. My number is still the same. Peeling a few layers off, they aren't that bad to work on. I have actually gotten to the point of the 6.0L as my preferred engine platform to work on.

The 03 and early 04's don't have dummy plugs to be concerned about like the late 04's and up do, but both systems do have leak points on them that can be suspect and need to be checked.

A scan tool that can monitor the FICM, ICP( high pressure oil system) and IPR duty cycle are a necessity for troubleshooting these engines. Those 3 pieces of date will tell an awful lot about the health of the platform.

Well I'm very new to 6.0s. My son just did a cab off head stud job and head rebuild. Now it cranks normal speed and slowly builds pressure to start. Runs fine once started. Just wondering where an "air test" is described. Thanks. By the way I'm am an IDI guy.

You can Google 6.0 air test. Or YouTube it.
There's some very good videos by "DieselTechRon."
What year truck? You can use the icp port or the ipr port. I prefer the ipr port, as you don't have to do anything else with the system. When using the icp port, you have to supply power to the ipr to close it. Otherwise it will be a "leak." You can do this by a tool like autoenginuity, Ford ids, etc. Or can manually supply 12 volts to it for a short time.
When using the icp port 03-04 is harder to get to, because it sits at the back under the turbo.
I bought this adapter. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078W58RNT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_3-06CbRYKTDV4
And this socket. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071K4JC7R/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_y.06CbWWJE99S
I would almost guarantee he needs to reseal the dummy plugs and stand pipes. (Pending year)
