It doesn't sound like a rod to me..... I'm with Wes and think lifters also.....

What I've experienced on these engines, if a rod does start to knock, you will know it quickly. They don't stay in long once they start knocking.

I know of one that started knocking stopped at a traffic light and it didn't make it across the intersection to pull into a parking lot.....

It's really hard for me to hear good enough on the Video. The fact that it is loader under load is what makes me think bottom end. I'm not necessarily saying a rod knock. Piston slap or wrist pin or?

It’s super hard to say without being there in person and hearing and feeling the noise in the truck. If a lifter is bad, you will see it spit it’s guts out in the lifter valley, or the spring will be weak causing a loose pushrod. The rare occasion they stick fully extended they usually bend the pushrod when the valve hits the piston. The fact that it’s dependent on load does suggest a bottom end issue, but it’s extremely rare from what I’ve seen under normal circumstances. Only bottom issues (minus high performance cases) is from lack of oil, like go to town and back with no oil in the engine, then pick up a trailer and it starts making noises, then takes three gallons to get something on the dipstick... had that happen to a customer but his engine was a glitter bomb by the time it was making any noise.

Yep. That has happened to me before. Coulda sworn it was engine noise. Got louder as it got hotter. Etc...
