You know, I wondered the same thing. I use the Rainex washer fluid and love it. Might be worth a shot. The windshield stuff works great for actual rain at speed. Fabulous. For misty rain and road spray it doesn’t do much good. That’s been my experience.

@laserjock if you try the rain-x on your mirrors let us know how it works. I can't see jack out my mirrors when it rains and if it helps that would be great.

It wasn't on my truck but... My truck will be pulling it so...

Got some light brackets made up at work for my ""new"" trailer. I got the old junk chopped off and got the new brackets primered.

Went from this ugly junk:

I'm out of black paint and it's supposed to rain the next couple days. I'll get more paint and hopefully be able to burn them in on Saturday :Thumbs Up

I use rain-x on all my windows and mirrors, have for years. Works great as long as I reapply it every 3-6 months. I don't wash the truck to often, but after the 2nd-4th wash the rain-x doesn't work well any more. After 6 months the weather/atmosphere pretty much wears it down. I use it on my semi-truck, too. Easier to get the bugs off.

Rain-x is crap anymore, I use it on my work truck but it won't last a week during a rainy week, the wipers rub it right off. I realize a week for that truck is about 2k mi and that's a lot of use but I feel like it used to be better

This is why I use the washer fluid. You are absolutely right. After a while, the wipers take it off. Hit the squirters and if it’s not completely toasted, it comes back pretty easy. You have to keep up with it though. Give a shot ones in a while when it’s not raining or raining lightly.

The reason I started using it was a buddy who lived in Denver for a while swore by it after the blue stuff froze solid on him one year. Methanol evaporates out too easy. Once I started using, and figured out you have to keep applying it, I haven’t looked back. I just top it off at oil changes. At highway speed I either don’t need the wipers or run on low intermittent most of the time while everyone else is struggling on Hi.

Apparently I was mad at mine or didn't like it or something. I drove it the 15 miles to my garage and left it there. I rode my sport bike home. Oh well, it gets WAY better mileage anyway.

Today I put new shocks and a new tire on my 94 idi. Took it for a drive and it rode nice.
Now I have an idling issue when I throttle down around 45 mph. The engine kinda lopes until you give it some fuel.

Got to drive mine again after three weeks being torn down!!!

Replaced flex plate (torque converter holes were egged out)
Installed Tugger kit in E4OD.

Did the transmission R&R in my driveway alone. It actually went very well!

I now assume the flexplate has had issues since before I purchased the truck. Truck has always been noisy, but I chalked it up to "an IDI is noisy". Truck is SO much quieter now!!!

I've been itching to hook up the camper and boat - I haven't yet towed my toys with this truck. So I'm excited to go get the five'r out of storage but now it's rain all weekend. :(

Man that part sucks. I'm glad to see that you did your transmission work yourself. I'll bet that you feel accomplished now, as well you should.

I changed the clutch and flywheel in my '89 crewcab, and swapped in a new pedal assembly. Everything went well until I hooked up the master cylinder tot he pedal assembly before I put the slave cylinder back on. Sure enough, I damaged the slave cylinder. The manual says that's not fixable, so I'm waiting for Monday to order another slave cylinder. No other major problems have surfaced yet, so maybe that's as bad as it's going to get.
