Hello all. Truck has 111k miles on it with no mods at all. Truck will start sometimes but with a very rough idle/loping and white smoke out of the exhaust. I found a burnt pin on the driver side front UVCH pigtail so I replaced the pigtail and put in a new UVCH and connectors to the GP/injectors. I have also replaced the CPS (tach wasn't moving while cranking) and a new ICP because FORScan gave me a P1280 code for it, that code is no longer showing up. I pulled out the IDM and shook it to see if it had water in it and it didn't, tested all the wiring on the IDM using the test procedure at gbreman.com and everything was within spec except the power-to-injector-ground on the right bank was 3.1 ohms where it should have been OL on my DMM, left bank read correctly. So after installing the new ICP tonight I was hoping it would have fixed it since it cleared the code but it hasn't. So I ran an injector buzz test and it came back with a P0282 #8 Injector Circuit Low. At this point I don't know what else to check or do and I am by no means a mechanic but am willing to try anything else. Would anybody have any suggestions on where I should start next? Thanks for any help.

might check on the drivers side where the harness drapes down over the valve cover and see if there are some chafed wires there. it's a known wear point on those harness's. other than that it could be the inj itself unless the buzz tests sound good then one wouldn't think so. if you can find a wiring diagram then maybe check the wire from idm to #8 inj against the *6 and see what you get.

Sorry to hijack this thread.:sorry: Since we're on the subject of codes, travelling home yesterday, I lost my throttle control.:( Managed to drive on the cruise control to return to town, where it "played up" again. I managed to get through town to a mates workshop. Hooked up my 1750 tuner & the following codes came up, two of which I've cleared before PO237 & PO603. The PO221 looks like the issue.
Cleared the codes, fired the engine up throttle activation works but for how long? I first thought, maybe replace the throttle position sensor but that is a different code !
My main concern, is clearing the code "fixing" the issue, I doubt it.:dunno
I have no one within 400k (250 miles) who has any knowledge or can do any repair on these trucks.
I'll need to tow my 6500lb caravan (travel trailer) within a couple of weeks, so having this issue pop up again on the highway would not be good. Any ideas out there please:)

Ford 7.3 Powerstroke -PO220, PO221 Idle Validation Sensor (IVS)/APP sensor
Video by PikachuG5  Thanks mate
Now to hit the spanners, again. Dust is probably the main issue on electrical dramas in Australia. 80% of Australia is like Nevada (hot, dry & dusty) ;)
