Hi Guys,
I am trying to get a truck and have gotten great advice from this forum so far, thanks!
I have found another truck that has a good engine and interior but the undercarriage has had some rust.
From the pictures you can tell that this truck has lived in a moist environment [pacific northwest] and many of the parts have "oxidized" [if you dont want to call it rust].
Look at:
- leaf springs
- exhaust
- drive shaft
- shock tubes
The frame has been given new undercoating with a product called POR15 which looks great but I wonder if it has really solved the problem. My concern is that the same surface rust seen on the drive shaft and everywhere else is exactly what the frame used to look like. It's now been coated and looks nice but it's wrinkly, like a rusty surface. It is also possibly on the inside of the frame rails where it is not treatable.
My gut tells me that the rust will always be an issue with this truck and it is worthwhile to be patient and keep looking.
Thoughts?
