So after a little bit of trouble getting a new housing. I stalled new 4.10 gears bearings and a new eaton posi set preload at 35 in lbs and backlash ay .010 preload on carier is had to tap the last shim in. So after few heat cycles and 200 miles or so. I drained and slid a les out preload with carrier installed feels nice not hard at all. And my backlash has increased to .015 temprature of housing was 160 f in the hottest part below pinion after 20 miles of highway no load on. Does all this seem right? I am paranoid as it is my first setup

35 in lbs sounds a little loose on new bearings but I doubt it’ll blow up over that. Your backlash is fine and normal. Temp is normal, new gears and bearings get hot fast. Not sure what you mean on your carrier preload. It should be like 1-3thousands run out. Check with pry bar and dial indicator
