Wow. If I didn't personally find them hideous I would love it. Always wanted a smaller vehicle with an efficient diesel. If I remember right those earlier VW Diesels really got pretty great mileage.

To much money for what it is. I have a 82 Audi with that same basic engine. Would get around 40 45 mpg pretty easy. Also had a 910 Datsun with an inline 6cyl diesel that would really get good mileage too.

Well if it runs and drives well that is a steal. You cant get one anywhere close to that price here.
They are great machines as long as you are not taller than 6 feet. The seat just doesn't go back far enough.

my brother in law had one and had a 1.6 TD in it lots of power. no need for a trailer hitch on it though. was a neat little truck but anybody over about 5,10" would have trouble driving it.
I'm 6'3" and it was difficult for me to drive, if the seat went back another foot it would have been fine.:rotflmao

Had one!! 54mpg! Not very peppy but I could pull the mountains of Santa Fe with a bed full of camping gear. With the a/c going it would only get 40mpg. & talk about rolling coal!!!

1.6 N/A was only 54hp I think. only thing slower was my 1982 MD 240 diesel wagon with the auto trans. it was scary slow, combination never should have been built:frustrate
