Looking at a 92 Chevy 2500 with a 4bt Cummins and 5 speed it’s at a car lot guys asking $8000 says it had over. $10000 in work done looks like a good conversion is that a good price?

A used 4BT by itself is ~$5k usually.

Another $5k doesn't really go far toward adapters, shop time, and misc bit/pieces. An old GMT400 truck not worth much.

I'd rather put a 6BT in a better truck (squarebody Chev, OBS Ford)... or just drive the whole Dodge it comes in.

EDIT: Money spent often doesn't correlate with value.

Doesnt look like 8K to me. Its different, has hydroboost and it looks like ac too. It would probably be worth 5K to me. Maybe 6 if you really can't live without it.
It probably gets great mileage.

I have a 89 heavy half ton with sentimental value that just blew the 350. Would love to put a 12v in. Wish I had the skills.

Between the hydroboost, dual batts, and air intakes in the bumper.... my guess is it was a factory 6.2/6.5 truck.

To me I don't see the 10k for that kind of money I would expect something better than bungy cords holding my rad hose off the fan blades if your serious about buying this I'd take a good look at everything down to the motor mounts ,trans mounts and make sure it's not hard mounted (no mount bushings) and if they welded new brackets check to see they are good welds not booger welds I had a buddy buy a 12v converted fummuns and it was a disaster because someone just crammed it in

That conversion, and then it ended up on a dealer lot... hmm. Plus obvious signs it wasn’t well cared for and that some of the work was half-a$$ed...

I see a lot of reasons to have second thoughts. Plus you posted here. Don’t let the desire to have a truck with that motor (which would be sweet done right) result in buying someone else’s can of worms. And overpaying at that. You can get a lot more truck in a lot better shape for that $, Cummins notwithstanding.

The fact its on a dealer lot.... wouldn't be the first time I've seen a customer back out of a project (and abandon the vehicle) as the shop bill grew large. I'm sure there's a good story to go with this one.

No doubt there is a good reason But 10k and with the story and costs comes problems I wish I had pics of my buddy's fummins but it was botched big time so needless to say if I was to do a swap it would take a long time because I'd have to check and double check everything and the Fab time would be in the months not weeks
