I was running around Arizona, with 110 degrees not knowing my fan clutch was out. I learned of this, as pulling my 5th wheel around Phoenix, no issue, but as soon as I hit the hills, it got hot. These engines definitely have a large cooling system to help spread the heat.

Oh, and weight on the 5th wheel is 15,000lbs.

Wow! That's pretty heavy, what's your gearing?

Well figured it’s time for an update since I’ve had my first failure. About 7 miles from the shop I had the throttle cable snap, luckily I was going about 55 at the time, so I just set my cruise control and used that to drive back to the shop. Pulled a used oem one off a parts truck instead of going with another pos dorman replacement, this one only lasted a year or so.

Here’s some pictures of some new additions, bent up a little bracket to mount the nitrous and **** solenoids as well as the fuel pressure regulator. Need to pick up some elbow fittings for the solenoids so the lines have more of a straight shot.

Testing out a product that may be coming out soon, a glow plug upgrade kit. It replaces the stock wiring and connectors with an improved design, replaces the stock relay and controller with a beefy white Rodgers unit manually triggered by a momentary switch in the cab. So far working great, just experimenting with different connectors to see what works and holds up the best.

Here’s a clip I took a while back making a little nitrous pull. Gets up to 60 in about 7 seconds, I think it’s still got more in it with some fiddling but pretty close to being ready for the dyno.

That improved glow plug kit sounds interesting. I'm not totally happy with the patched remains of the stock set ups.

It seems like the best option to me, I hardly see a gp harness in good shape on these and with the issues with the engine harness connector it seems better to start over with a better design

It sure beats a block of wood under the IP throttle arm while feathering the clutch in and out with your hazards on lol!

It sure does, although it’s the only time I’ve had one break at speed. Usually it’s from a stop they break, in that case I just raise the idle rpm up and bounce gears until I get to speed

Lookin' good so far! Just curious Wes, any update on how the injectors are working out for you?

So far no issues, I just turned over 15k miles on them. I’d like to pull them out and go through them but they haven’t given me a reason to need to, and I’ve been short on time since releasing the turbo upgrades. They definitely pull a good bit more fuel than the stock injectors, I’m dropping fuel pressure in the top gears where I didn’t have an issue before.

@Thewespaul how do you like them compared to the stock ones? Do you feel they are giving you better performance?
It felt like an improvement, it’s not a giant power difference but I think it was a noticeable change, really would like to have some other people to try them before I make any claims, as well as get some data on the dyno instead of just butt dyno reference for how they perform. Reason I’ve put off getting the truck on the dyno is a friend who owns a local speed shop is fixing to move this next month, I usually use his dyno so I’m going to help him move his equipment over to the new shop in exchange for a day or two on the dyno. Gonna try and get as much testing as I can in that time going through some idi myths and a few products.

I also have used the white Rodgers relay. Got mine from diesel oring .com and then used an old glow plug harness from a 6.0 and clipped on some good weather tight terminals on the ends. Started my 7.3 middle of winter below 20° really well with a crap starter.

What kind of boost are you seeing?

Currently mid teens, I’ve had it mid twenties with no intercooler and a built pump, realistically someone could copy the build on a stock idit without head studs and be plenty reliable at this power level.
