What part of Mississippi are you in?We'll certainly do so. I appreciate it
Brandon. Just outside of JacksonWhat part of Mississippi are you in?
Awesome, hour and a half away! I’m down in Laurel!Brandon. Just outside of Jackson
Sweet. I know where that isAwesome, hour and a half away! I’m down in Laurel!
Hope you get it fixed, I love these old trucks and engines. I have two 93s, so my wife might flip out if I show up with another one!Sweet. I know where that is
Yeah I like the older Ford pick-ups. I know the motor is a dinosaur but they're tough as nails. If I could get the fuel tank issue and the trans fixed, I wouldn't have any complaints about the truckHope you get it fixed, I love these old trucks and engines. Is that the “fuel pickup” that needs to be replaced?Yeah I like the older Ford pick-ups. I know the motor is a dinosaur but they're tough as nails. If I could get the fuel tank issue and the trans fixed, I wouldn't have any complaints about the truck
Correct. It runs out of fuel in the front tank after about 8 gallons. The rear tank I think needs to be cleaned out and replace the pickup. Is that the “fuel pickup” that needs to be replaced?
Thanks for that. I was gonna check it out when I get home from work. I do have a meterJustin do you own a multimeter? If so Id like to try and go through some basic tests for the electronics to rule that out before condemning the trans with having mechanical issues. The e40d trans doesnt get the best wrap, but most the times its an electrical issue with them.

Thank you for the top. I was gonna check it yesterday, but I got off work too late. I'm gonna spend the weekend trying to get some of this taken care of.Sorry got busy, first thing I always test is the tps sensor or fipl as its referred to by ford. This is mounted on the driverside of your injection pump and reads the position of your throttle so the transmission can perform accordingly. There are three wires on the connector for this sensor, 5v in, output signal, and a ground. The only one you need to worry about for now is the middle wire. Check the voltage of this wire with the key on engine off after the engine is at temp. With the throttle in the idle position you should see 1.2v. If you see more or less, you need to loosen the sensor on its mounting screws and adjust it on the sliders until the desired voltage is achieved. Once you have idle at 1.2v, check what it is at wide open throttle. You should have a smooth voltage increase up to 4.5v minimum at wide open throttle. If you cant make it get to those voltages and its really off, the sensor needs replacing.
Next couple tests get more complicated, but start with that so we can rule that out first, then well go from there.
