I emailed Holley, told them I needed a 12VDC diesel pump that could produce 50GPH at 5PSI. Here is their response:
================
PART# 12-429 fuel pump is a diesel compatible 50gph pump that you would use a PART# 12-840 regulator to keep it at 5psi. If you have any questions or would like to purchase these parts feel free to email me back or call 1-866-464-6553 and ask for Josh.

I can say from experience that pump is not sufficient for a stock na 7.3

Many people are running the Holley red pumps, but it seems there’s been some reliability issues with them. Holley black would be more than enough

By the way, Wes, I poked around a little on the Stanadyne website and found spec sheets for our pumps. I

The Holley Red and Black pumps aren't for diesel, according to Holley. I couldn't find a pump curve for the one he recommends, but it probably is 50gph with zero head and a lot less at 3psi.

Does Facet publish pump curves? I couldn't find any.

What did you find on the stanadyne site? I know alcohol in gas is a lot harsher on pumps, but they probably don’t like the bit of biodiesel in modern diesel I guess

Yep that’s the cal check list for setting these pumps up on the stand. Bit newer version than wants in my manual, pictures are a lot better in that pdf

Just got done installing my fuel pressure gauge. The T is between the facet and factory fuel filter. Both videos are full throttle. Ran the balls off the truck and couldn’t get it to drop below 2.5psi. Saw about 7.5psi max at idle and 6psi cruising at 60mph. 80cc pump

I wonder if the vacuume gauge in the filter head is just weak enuff to be falsley (sp) coming on???
But 2.5 psi is more than the (what is it again?) 1 psi min???
I would need to get to a mainframe to look back into this (settin on the beach) just throwin out some ideas to help the cause.

I’m not having any issues, I just posted that in response to earlier in the thread when we were talking about the facet not being enough
Not trying to stir the pot or be argumentative, but shouldn't that Tee be between the filter and IP?
Ideally, yes but I really didn’t want to mess with trying to reinvent the hard line from the filter head to the ip. I’m hoping that a new filter will show faster and lower psi drops and as it gets plugged I would see higher pressures with slower drops. I considered teeing off the schreader valve to avoid messing with the hard line but I can at least see what my lift pump is putting out. Much easier to just splice in to the 3/8 rubber line for now.

I dont have a number but a perfectly brand new filter will drop the PSI to the IP some amount--then as it catches junk it will drop more and more. This is why the pressure gauge is best placed between the filter head and IP. In fact you can use the port closest to the firewall(the vac sensor) to measure. Tee in there to retain the sensor lamp.
Additionally you could even keep the pre-filter gauge then add a post-sensor gauge to have a restriction-monitoring setup! :Thumbs Up
