EDIT: This is for facet model 40222/3

Alright so, back in 2012 this was the thing to do, I remembered that and it was the first thing I did when I got my newest to me idi.

I have put 4000 miles on it since I installed it.

Here in CT/MA we are getting into the colder weather, every tank I fill is treated, and I only fill at a station that has a high turn over rate so im never filling my tank with old fuel.

So at first I would only get my fuel filter light on under WOT conditions or heavier throttle going up a hill. Then it started staying on , my entire commute which is <1800 rpms on average, for the most part hangs right around 1400-1500 rpms. To me, that's unacceptable.

Thinking the POS fram filter previous owner had on the truck was the reason I bought a new motorcraft fd3375 from the local dealer Friday morning and changed it over.

Did it help? NOPE! fuel filter light is still constantly on. Truck is definitely doggish.

I do not recommend this pump and I will never recommend it. I don't know if its problems they are having as of late only? as older reviews are better but in my experience over this last 4k using a brand new pump, its left me very disappointed.

Ill be figuring out a new setup when I convert to a single tank.

Happy back to work after a long weekend day!

That stinks, you put a lot of attention to detail in with your conversion. I’ve also had issues with the facets like I mentioned in the other thread, I’m not trying to downplay the product as I’ve never seen one fail, just had them perform lame.

I’d really like to get an assortment of the Holley, mr gasket and facet pumps that people commonly use on IDIs and do some flow testing to see what they really make, then maybe do a giveaway?

I think I will be going with a carter, in January I plan to do the single tank conversion and update my fuel system from this weak pump I have now. Ill donate mine. Once its off and trucks running ill get your shipping info!

I would love to see some testing done on feed flow rates ON a running idi...
Dead headed...
Free flow...
Hot and cold...
Mine does the full pull b.s.

It was frustrating enough on the WOT , but to be on constantly and only intermittently go out for a few seconds at certain points of my commute just drives me nuts!

I'm gunna call swagelock and order a 5psi poppet valve to see if it helps before I pull the fittings off and port em out some.

You have seen the other threads on this issue?yes?

edit

Kevo, is it possible that the sensor is going bad, not the pump? Do you have a fuel pressure gauge you can plumb in temporarily?

I am a bit disappointed in my Facet as well, although I do not have the restricted filter light coming on. I have an in cab electric fuel pressure gauge (no I don't have a fuel line running into the cab LOL). When the key is on with the pump running but the engine off, the gauge reads 6psi. When the engine starts and is running at high idle, the gauge reads 5-1/2 psi - all well and good. When cruising under moderate load, the gauge will read around 4 psi. Now, bury the throttle and the gauge will drop to less than 1psi. I never get the restricted filter light, and the truck never stumbles. BUT, once the pump weakens as more miles get put on it, I am concerned that it will not supply enough fuel. Works fine for now, but I also am looking for an alternative.

My carter 4070 has been working great for a few months now! No psi gauge in cab but full throttle revs don’t even budge the gauge under the hood. Two of the mdchixal pumps I went though would hit basically 0 off just a rev brand new. That’s feeding my 90cc and stage 1’s so I’d imagine it’s plenty of fuel for any stock pump as well

Kind off vague just to say I do not recommend a facet fuel pump, really need to include a model number. There are quiet a few variations of fuel pumps facet offers for each product line, with varying psi and gph.

Yes but the common one used here in our application is the 40222/3 I assumed people would pick up on that , ill add it to the original post.

I've had my Dura-Lift 40223 pump for a little over a year & never had any problems. Mine is a pusher, not a puller. Mounted on the frame rail about 2' from the tank switch/valve. It will squirt you in the eye if you push the schraeder valve. Do not have a pressure gauge on it. I drive a lot of expressway and can bury the needle. Just can't keep up with everyone else.

Why not just stick with the mechanical pump?

That’s what I plan to do. It should be plenty to feed my 80cc pump and stock B.B. injectors.

Changed from mechanical to EPump to turn key on with full flow of fuel. Starts easier & less problems with air intrusion.
Can change filter, turn on key, press schraeder valve & air is out of system. If leak occurs, don't have to run engine to find leak, just turn on key.
That is why i won't go back to mechanical.
