For starters,
1990 f250 7.3 Idi 4x4
E4od with sterling 10.25 (4:10 gears)
The short story is, I had to replace my rear axle because the hub retainer nut broke and stripped my spindle threads (at this point my rear and transmission are in great working order).
I found a new axle housing and began swapping my 4:10 gears that were in my original axle. Only thing I replaced was bearings, crush washer, & pinion nut.
My first test drive, first to second gear was a hard shift. Second gear to forth gear acted as if they were one continuous gear ( rpms stayed at 2k with no drop in rpm between gears) and over drive worked if it wanted to.
The truck sat for 3 months before the first test drive. No flashing OD light & no check engine light.
Less than a year ago I changed
-vehicle speed sensor and wiring
-pencil gear and drive gear for speedometer
-speedometer cable
-fluid and filter
-rear speed sensor and wiring
-neutral safety switch
I am stumped as to why this transmission is acting up considering It worked so well before it was parked
Let me know what you guys think, thanks
