I've got Walmart batteries in mine and have no complaints. They sat for over 6 months, mostly winter, without being charged and when I finally started it they were like new. Several glow plugs cycles and wamo fired right up.

They are made by Johnson Controls who also makes interstate batteries.

I kind of wish i had grabbed a pair last month. The site claims sold out for the removable cap style, replaced with nonremovable. Im debating making the drive back to the Walmart 14 miles away to see if they still have any despite the sold out status.

I know that they used to be made by Exide several years ago.

I have a feeling it must shift. The raised cap ones were freshly made that I saw last month but those are now phased out for flat tops. The flat top title actually says Exide, a mistake? I doubt they meant to advertise that.

I bought mine September last year and spent a few days before hand checking them out. Everything I found said Johnson, but as with all discount retailers they probably go with whoever will slap their brand tag on them..

I hope they aren't Crapsides...

Go to

https://www.interstatebatteries.com

Put in your current zip code, and see if you have an Interstate All Battery Center close. Go in and ask for ECONOMY batteries for your truck. They will be an all black case, and have either a 60 or 90 day warranty, but they are about $40 each. I’ve used several of them, and not had any issues with them. I’ve been running them in my 6.0 for years. Actually most of my vehicles have Interstate Economy batteries in them. They are an Interstate battery, just have a short warranty. Most of the price of a battery is the warranty, or the battery itself.

If I needed a battery right now, I’d be on the way to Interstate. They have served me well.

What's the CCAs? Walmart sells 1 yr warranty economy batteries for $50 but they are 650cca vs 850 of the proper batteries.

Cold cranking amps

I meant what is the CCA rating.

I think i dug up the battery snicklas talked about. They are $121, which is $71 more than the cheap Walmart equivalent (650cca) , or $27 more than the Walmart heavy duty one (850cca).

Its an 18 month battery, the lowest line and all black except the letters:

That’s not the one I’m referring to. I’ve never seen the Economy listed on there website. I’ve always had to go in and ask for them.

I’ve not seen a spec sheet on them, but the store I use load tests them before they hand it to you. On all the ones I’ve bought they have all been 800+ CCA’s.

The warranty is very short, like I said, it’s no longer than 90 days, I think is actually less. The last one I bought, which was for a different vehicle was approximately $40. I’ve not had one fail, and the ones I’ve had to replace were 4-5 years old. My thought is, I can buy 2 or 3 Economy for the price of one from anywhere else. So with needing 2 batteries, even if I had to buy 3 total, I’ve only spent the amount of one from anywhere else.

I'm debating grabbing a pair of the $50 650cca batteries and just keep my cores until i see how they do. Walmart seems ok about returning batteries within 90 days. If they seem decent, I can go return the cores after a few days for a refund. If not, I can exchange them for the maxx.

A nice thing about the $50 ones too is removable caps.

Its going to be a few more days before i leave here. I will just top off the batteries with the generator before I even try to start it again since that always seems to do the trick.
