That's cool! And getting very hard to find solid candidates for restoration. Can't say that one has been through here though, there are a couple shops here that do euro cars and we do have a mini club so perhaps it's one of the cars I've seen running around town. Would definitely be fun with a jdm swap or hyabusa:Thumbs Up
I'll divulge a little, just wrapping up this build on an ac ace and will have it shipped off soon. Bare metal nut and bolt resto.
My truck will never look this good but with some elbow grease I'll have it at least in running order soon

it's amazing no matter what you cram under the hood, it's still a tight fit.

Long overdue update. Had to sit and appreciate towcats last addition to my thread for a minute though.
Driven the truck a bit more and about ready to r+r the steering. Have done the ps pump and lines. Getting a good whine out of it at full lock especially Turing left
Box needs some adjusting, about 15degrees/L off at the wheel going straight. Need to add a stabilizer when funds allow.
Tie rods on the parts list. Need to i.d u joints and other possible internals that will need replacing and can't seem to find the exact BOM/ID information for the front end off the old interweb.
I have a 601313-7 dated '89 on the diff cover. Ive gathered its a 3.54 King pin front end from the tag and online resources. im interested in what the -7 suffix identifies. Oilburners search kicked back a code for a -5RC front end with Trac loc? Looking for parts breakdown if specific to this version or verify its standard d60 kingpin.

Well, another belated update, but a good one . Glad to say to say there is another IDI back on the road! All New tie rods and tightening up all the loose hardware solved the death wobble issue .
New tires are 265/75/16s Corsa all terrains from America's tire . Spray painted stocker wheels,
Snapped the hood cable one evening right at the handle. Rather than blow $60 on a new one I took some motorcycle cable and sheathing I had and adapted to fit. Cut the old cable sheath, drilled out the housing and solderd/peened the cable into the handle end. Simple eyelet on the other end for the latch and Bam, works better than new.
Last is the seat upgrade. Scored some later super duty 60/40 split seats in great shape. The drivers side got the old style tracks fit onto the seat and dropped right In. The passenger side required a little more massaging and some spacers in the center mounts but went in without too much of a fight.
Next on the list is intake/fuel issues. Lift pump is weeping but so far drives well and is a lot of fun. Also have an Rsk swAp in the future. I may have a set of v code super duty springs set aside .

Thanks @saburai . Hope your rig is treating you well. Followed your thread on your recent acquisition.
Got around 100 miles on it and my waterpump started weeping yesterday. Noticed a squeal when I left work. So she's back down until this weekend. After sitting for nearly five years before it got it I was anticipating a more than a few issues. Hopin to get a new pump and lift pump in this weekend. checking with our local IH dealer before I hit up NAPA. Also found I'm not getting WOT as the lever on the IP is hitting a hose clamp on the inlet pipe and CDR connection. Need to start planning a way to re do the home brew intercooler muffler piping, betting I could drop a good 40lbs off the front of this thing by going to aluminum.

Had another interesting find this past week while doing the water pump swap on the truck. Someone really did love this truck before she burned up.
Noticed an out of place Schrader valve and nylon lined beneath the radiator. I don't know how I had missed it before but apparently to deal with the ttb spring/d60 combo the PO installed Monroe air assist shocks to compensate for the lack of travel/spring rate. Thought this was pretty ingenious, curious if anyone else has seen this done? I need to replace the line as the rh side line got charred in the fire. Didn't break but looks like it closed up enough to block it off. Going to get a new line and see if they pump up. Still waiting to get my new front springs and the coin for the Rsk kit but will be happy for now if I charge the system and the ride improves .

I'm just jealous of your intercooler! Intercooling is high on my list, but I've got swap in a recent rebuilt updated E4OD first so that I can sell the '90 in my signature line. It's all gotta wait until I'm back in the USA end of June. I've been meaning to post up some pictures of the crazy trucks running around here in India...

Looks like things are coming along nicely. Congrats!

I'd love to intercool mine one day, but fitting one behind the grill of a 1986 won't be easy.

Well, been a bit and time for an update. Thanks @saburai and @david85 . I got lucky with this buy big time.
I've put a good 2000 miles on it since getting it back in running order.
I have some leaky valve covers and turbo oil feed fittings to sort as well as a good leak at the turbo uppipe slip fit. Also removed the front axles to r+r the ujoints but have still managed to keep daily driving it.
Looking forward to using some wmo and getting the ac system back in it but haven't had time to do it yet.

Did you ever find out what that blue paint code is?

@Selahdoor , sorry I have not yet.
Thanks for the reminder. I will ask my paint guy at work tomorrow if he has some codes for these obs trucks, if we can't find one I have access to a spectrometer and can match it up to any preferred vendor you may have.
Finally got around to doing a few upgrades due I'm part to the starter starting to go out.
Got a DB electric denso style starter on the way. Previously had a Mitsubishi style in it. Hoping the added starting speed everyone seems to get from helps with hot starting issues (may be fighting a worn IP at this point)
Pulled the axles to install new u joints. Old ones were completely gone and rattling around.
Daily driving has had little issues. Next up is pulling the turbo and resealing the up pipe and drain grommet. I'm sure that will escalate into some other needed repairs as is the norm.

Scored this nice Bilstein unit. Thoughts on using it as a steering stabilizer on the Dana 60 setup I have? Quick research shows dual stabilizer kits for the d60 not a single setup. o_O

Update.

Driving the wheels off the truck .. almost literally. Haven't had time to cobble up the steering stabilizer setup. Honestly the thing drives great without it. Odometer is reading 340,000+ now.
@Selahdoor . Sorry I haven't gotten a chance to get the paint codes figured out for you. I tried the VIN tag decoder first and need to do some more looking into there and we've been working with a new paint supplier (standox for anyone who knows paint, its a great product.) and haven't gotten a chance to use the spectrometer when it's handy.
Anyway .. lesson learned here. Keep up the maintenance on the rear drums. Heard a squeak from the rear and things got spongey after a 100 mile round trip through the hills here. Hadn't suspected anything other than a pad change until I pulled the drums off. Oops. My fault for not inspecting things more regularly.
Other than that. It's due for a turbo removal to reseal the oil return. And up pipe leak. Possibly going to check rockers, and head torque while I'm at it.
Just need the time and don't have a ton of it as usual.
