All I know is Dad had a hell of a time keeping decent help. I was 10 when I started working for him and on most days I got more done then the grown "men" dad had working for him. We did concrete work, roofing, basements, and garages. I remember one day dad had this guy working as a hod carrier (guy who mixes up the mortar and puts the blocks in place for the block layers) and the guy kept staring into the mortar mixer so dad asked him if there was a TV in there. Around 10-11 am and after the 3rd or 4th time dad had asked about the TV dad sent him packing. The guy had come with one of the other workers so dad made him walk home. :Thumbs Up. I remember another time when we were putting in a floor and this guy kept raking the concrete from a low spot into a high spot. Dad told him several times that he was backwards and then sort of lost it-cuss. The guy had the nerve to ask dad if he was mad at him:idiot: I took him aside and told him to stay away from dad for the rest of the day. Ah that was some interesting times. Well this is way the hell off topic, sorry about that guys.

What did I miss? If my comment that’s gone stirred the pot, that wasn’t my intentions.

Someone had said it’s hard to find good help under 35 years old, I’m 26, worked hard at the same factory for 6 years and got promoted to team leader. All I said was “idk how I feel about that lol”. Oh well, sorry if I pissed someone off

I don't think that you upset anyone. I thought it was just a story. As far as my last comment goes, just remember the word "usually". I used it for a reason. I know that there are young people out there who work very hard. I also know that there are older people who don't.

I certainly wasn't upset. There are exceptions to any rule.

Would the Bosch inline pump off an IH DV550 (9.0L) V8 be a viable option? Maybe not as common as the 3208 pump, but should support a bit more fuel flow. It is long, and would probably require a custom manifold.

Holy bleep how sweet are the injector lines on that thing! Nothing like the mess we have... I'm digging the gold color too for some reason. Dont know a thing about the pump but I like it already, lol!

If we were looking at it for solely fuel output the Bosch would be the way to go. With a little work those pumps are fire breathing monsters, but they are pricey and huge. An advantage of the 3208 is it leaves room in the valley to have a good sized turbo and intake manifold, and most the key adjustments are on top of the pump, where on the Bosch you have a lot of adjustments in kinda pita areas like the rear of the pump and on the side, which wouldn’t be very easy to get to with the already limited space. I think the 3208 will be able to make more than enough fuel to break any idi connecting rods that currently exist.

Saw one of the cat 3208 pumps apart the other, pretty much like a mini v8 motor. Cam and springs and valves very interesting.

Good thing about the bosch set up they use alot of same parts the cummins guys use in their p pumps. Way more info out on one of that style pumps. I think if your willing to go that far as to adapt another style pump you have to be willing to go as far as custom intake manifold and custom turbo ect ect.

The 3208 can use a lot of p7100 parts as well, they just aren’t used as often as the Bosch platform because it’s a style pump only made for one engine, but it’s basically like working on two four cylinder Bosch pumps. The dv550 would be capable of more fuel, but there’s guys making 800cc out of the 3208, which is theoretically enough to make near 2000 hp at the crank. With a longer pump like what came out of a dv550, there wouldn’t be room for a turbo in the valley, which would mean the turbo would have to be mounted in front or beside of the engine, and in most cases that would mean sacrificing air con, which at least in my area is a deal breaker, not to mention makes the conversion a lot more costly

Another thing that seems important here to me is the fact that the 3208 pump is more available. More avalibility means a lower initial cost which, in turn, probably means a lower costing finished product.
