That starter doesn’t sound right at all. Wonder if they new one was a dud.....

Maybe the bolts have backed out of the starter. That sound reminds me of a Chevy starter that’s not shimmed right and the gears aren’t meshing correctly.....

Ditto on the constant clicking. Some or all of the glow plugs are faulty. The starter sounds as if it is not engaging the ring gear properly.

Sounds to me that starer is too slow (slower than Mine), air intrusion (return lines have been replaced maybe not sealing properly after shutdown), GPs not working correctly, & IP needs to be turned to the passenger side about a nickle's thickness after you scribe a spot of reference at the IP mount/cover (do this first)

I have the return lines ordered not sure about the IP or turning it will look at YouTube n on here about how that goes.

Gps are well not that old about 6 months if even that, had the started tested at advance Auto result was good but to me sounded rough to the chick that tested it whose father raised her on racing/old diesel rigs said it was good. the starter was fresh out the box a week it's been in the truck since thrusday.it made that sound.

The short clicks have been that way since I've had the truck 4 yrs now go controller/relay has been replaced after it caught fire

Pretty sure the GP controller is NOT supposed to click immediately. I suspect your harness may be damaged if controller and GPs are relatively new and the controller still doesn't work right. It's pretty easy to make your own harness if you need to. You might try rigging up a manual GP switch so you can bypass the controller entirely. Just be sure to use a momentary switch.

I've thought about making a pushbbuttpu now a scrapyard near me has a donor truck could in use an old wire harness like that as a start to make my own.

also could my fly wheel effect any thing as far as turning over or starting/draining a battery

I had a flywheel with a number of chipped teeth and she still turned over just fine. I recently had an issue with my starter not turning over very fast--turned out I had significant corrosion on one of my battery ground cables. Made a new set of cables and boy does she turn over fast now. Although your starter does sound freakin' rough I bet the truck starts fine if at least 6 of your glow plugs are working and on a manual switch. I say 6 because when I bought my truck two of the connectors--the piece that attached to the GPs--were missing and the truck wouldn't start very well until I bypassed the controller and installed a manual switch. The controller senses resistance, which increases as the GPs heat up, and any malfunctioning or disconnected plug increases resistance. So the controller can only function as intended if all the related wiring is in good condition. Again I highly recommend making a new harness if yours is damaged. I think one of the members here found that a GP harness from a 6.0 would work, although one of the plugs was a tight fit if I recall correctly.

I sell a plug and play harness for the na trucks that is based around the 6.0 harness using the improved connectors.

This is some basic electrical. When I made my harness I had never done any vehicle electrical before, but I read up on the procedure on various forums, made sure I had all the steps outlined before starting and in no time I had a functional harness that is still working nearly 4 years later. All I did was run some 2 gauge wire with a Mega fuse from the GP controller to a fused power distribution block and then it's just a matter of crimping spade and bullet terminals to some 14 gauge wire. I didn't have a crimper for the 2 gauge wire but my local NAPA was able to crimp the lugs for me once I knew the length of wire I needed. Sure there are other ways to do this that may be better but mine hasn't let me down yet.

One tip for GP replacement would be to give the plugs a good spray with some PB Blaster or equivalent and let it soak in before attempting removal. If any are real tight just loosen it a bit, spray some PB on it and work it back and forth 'till it starts to loosen up--patience is yer friend. I think I used a 1/4 drive ratchet with a 3/8 deep socket and universal to remove the GPs. And do be sure to use Motorcraft/Beru GPs if you replace them--money well spent.

Glow plugs are still not in new started/battires had my brother hear my truck said sounds like my flywheel needs tighten, he didn't have time since he was at work to do it n I'm a novice.

Can some one kindly walk me through the steps to find the flywheel dust covrer n what tools I'll need to adjust it, the truck is now my dail driver while a spare dodge caravan is being worked on

If the flywheel is your issue you will need to remove the trans and clutch to tighten it
