took it for its first run down the sideroad, not bad. trans has a little harsh 2/3 shift but fluid not burnt. od holds well. 60mph was 1600rpm I didn't hear it run before I bought it and had to believe what seller told me that the wiring was the only issue. looks like he was truthfull about it. works well for 368,000 miles , and AC even blows cold:cheers:

now its time to run it through a commercial safety and get down all the brake measurements. it should be my new trailer hauler in the next few weeks. and will also be my new commuter:rock:

ran it through commercial safety, needs lots but nothing big mostly lights , and little stuff, biggest job is rear shocks and rear park brake cables. sway bar links at diff too but its one of those minor things. no other suspension or foundation brake work required, lots of new stuff. I don't like the 265/75/16s, I have enough 235/85/16s to make a full set , might pull me another mile or two per gallon ?

drove it home first time , 368915 miles on the odo. plated and insured . did rear cables and shocks for safety, and a headlight bulb> didn't complete the commercial safety yet just the DOT to get it on the road.
first fill coming on Sunday at the new pioneer in wingham . towed dad's kubota on brother's trailer . will fill it too. 1.29.9 /litre diesel

surprisingly quiet on the road for this mileage, 14 year old daughter helped today with oil change, fuel filter change , and swap in a solid set of red 40/20/40 front seats. bucket seats were badly broken and worn. slowly switch it to red interior from a 95 F150 parts ****. it was a service truck for a 5000 acre cash crop farm for last 10 yrs and I don't think it ever got cleaned inside! gear oil/grease/coffee/sweat /topsoil, what a horrible combo and a BAD smell. probably sucked a good 20lbs of topsoil out of the carpets. better already with a vacuum and change front seats . AC and cruise works great 60mph was right around 1600rpm.

I'll calculate every tank I put through it, except when the Mrs forgets to reset the trip. I'll take a coupel pics on Sunday.

OK I won't include its 1st tank.
truck was workign great on Sunday , took everybody to DQ for supper then dropepd the oldest off to help withtheir 4H sheepe club float and we did our grocery shopping, kids loved it nice and quiet and AC works.......

headed off to work monday afternoon shift, got about 5miles from home and thought I smelled diesel fuel, looked at he fuel gauage that I thought might be broken because it barely moved in the first 60 miles and it was going down!
I drove it another 5 miles and realized I really had a problem, turned it around and headed home. holy crap what a smelly beast and lots of smoke but no change when I pushed the hrottel hard so not an injector. I made it home and ran to the house for a fire extinguisher just in case. put the kiddie pool under the truck to save my driveway. no fire but a lot of fuel went into the kiddie pool. I shoudl have replaced all the fuel lines when I changed the filter housing .

I was going to pull over and get it towed but I remembered they have to report fuel leaks to the MOE before they can tow, so i saved myself a lot of headaches and drove it home.
wife took me to work and luckily I left our 2004 TDI jetta at work so I has wheels.

I'm pretty sure what the problem is .......... just didn't have tiem to work on it at that moment. only lost 45 min of work. tow call would have been $150plus and several hours late for work. :p

Used the Project truck to haul a load of spruce to the folk's farm.
I only thought to take a picture when the truck was unloaded and some of the wood was split.

Got it all split except for some nice pieces we will use for cribbing.

The truck rode great! Better than unloaded.
Running on my WMO cocktail. This trip I tried to keep the EGTs under 600*F. That limited my speed to ~ 100 km/h (62 mph).

My brother bought a 1990 International 3700 School Bus for $500. CDN, that's about $1.38 USD ;) It has a NA 7.3 IDI. It has been sitting in storage for over 5 years. The tires were crap. Three of them weren't even seated on the beads. We brought the rear tires from another skoolie he has.

Truck loaded up to go:

The original plan was to just put the tires on and have it towed back to the farm, but we brought a couple of batteries with us to see if we could start it.

We were told it was driven to the storage yard, so we were hopeful. The batteries weren't all that great, so I figured I would disconnect the Glow Plug Relay and just give it a shot of ether. Well, I broke the relay trying to disconnect it. Doh! Oh well, mission accomplished. With only one battery hooked up, the engine didn't turn over fast enough to start. With two it did. A little sniff of ether and it fired right up. :) The diesel gods are smiling upon us.

The engine is running in this shot:

I drove it forward with 3 flat tires to make it accessible to change the tires. 4 tire swaps later, and an aggravating time with Alberta registrys...fast forward 2 hours...we are ready to leave. My brother drove the bus. It's about an hour drive.

The bus worked flawlessly. Signal lights worked. Brake lights worked. Even the brakes worked.

A shot of the bro securely fastening the battery. Just before he left:

He made it no problem. The bus was able to do 100 km/ 62mph. It slowed down on the hills tho. It needs a turbo.

The only casualty was my 3/4" breaker bar. It's supposed to be able to take 800 ft. lbs. Piece of crap.

We made it. Win!

nice score, it would have been pricey if it was a DT360.............those Dayton 1-1/4" wheel nuts are only 250ft/lbs torque, and I don't see much rust onthat bus. that bar is a piece of crap.

ps:22.5s usually fall off the tapered bead as soon as they go flat with any weight on them.

I actually forgot I had the trailer on and passed a slow car on Hwy 86 and looked in my mirror and thought :idiot:

will be hauling most of a 88 F350 4x4 Cab/chassis in for scrap on tuesday . nobody wants 460 efi engines here so it was left in the truck  I'll try and get some pics.

Fixing fuel and exhaust leaks on the 96.
Stupid fuel restriction sensor was leaking. Nothing else appears to be leaking. But I'll clean it up and see.
Gotta borrow FIL's leaf blower to find the exhaust leak. Nothing sticks out at more, or is black, except the firewall. But it's a big leak. Sounds like a gasser with open headers. Has the glug glug glug.
And is getting terrible mileage. My 94 psd got better, as well as the 6.0.
If I had to guess, I would say it's sitting around 10 mpg. Lol
