So I didn't take the truck to Conestoga yesterday because Saturday running on the oil she started sucking air. Last night I swapped out the inline filter thinking it was the problem again (it was leaking last time). Switched over on the way to work and a mile later the filter light came on. I got to work early so I just bypassed the prefilter this morning. We'll see if that changes anything.

It's just hydraulic oil, but it's not cut with much. If she's still giving me fits after this I'll top it off with diesel Thursday and let it slosh around for a while before I try running it again.

Actually put my old, good mechanical pump back in and bypassed my e-pump.

Everyone screams "Why would you do that?"

On the trip to and from the rally, the hills in PA were fine, except for the fuel filter light coming on whenever I was pushing it a little hard. I haven't been able to get on it without having the filter light come on and have to back off for the pump to catch up.

I'm really hoping to head to Conestoga Diesel this weekend, and I'm planning on trying my waste oil on the trip. Got 3/4 of a tank in it for the test run and the E-pump does NOT like it. Figured I'd cut my losses. Everything is there to hook it back up. I have 3/4 tank of straight diesel in the front tank just in case. We'll see how it goes, hopefully you won't see me in the diesel down section on Sunday!

i did the same thing when i was running some WMO in my IDI. i did not have any luck with an electric pump keeping up with anything more than straight diesel in the summer. the electrics even fell behind when it got cold out with straight diesel.

i just made sure i went with a Carter lift pump at the time, the airtex ones were no good.

was good to catch up with you a little yesterday. hopefully you get it sorted so you can pick up a camper and use it!

Yesterday after work I drove out and picked my sister's car up because it was acting weird. After that I dropped it off for inspection and saw this sitting in the lot....

That HURTS. I don't even know who's it is. Word is it was a rollover/fire. 2013 SuperDuty Diesel 4x4. The driver walked away. Not sure how.... Had a transfer tank in the back too.

After some procrastination and a round of some kind of stomach bug this weekend, I replaced my carrier bearing. It took me about an hour and a half to do, including digging for a couple of tools. All I have to say is that it's not too bad with a long barreled air hammer, a GOOD cut off wheel on a grinder and some patience.

I replaced front rotors and pads, headlight switch, one caliper, ujoint front shaft at xfer, water pump, past shifter assembly, the clutch pedal mod with helm joint, rear springs, 3 spring perches, rear tires and the spare.

working on the oil cooler now, almost out, steering shaft removed, ps pump and accessory bracket removed, but still can't get it pay the frame. I'll unbolt the mount and raise the engine after work tonight, then it should go well.

Some minor fixes after my 2000 mile round trip. Towards the end of the trip the wait to start light quit coming up. I though, damit, another glow plug controller. But today, my cold engine roared to life, which makes me think that is actually the light itself not the glow plug controller.
Also the passenger side rear running light stopped working. The old incandescent bulb turned out to be corroded. Some wire brushing got it working again. The passenger side has the socket facing upwards, and this has happened before. The drivers side is socket facing down, and it never gets corroded. I think I have a bit of a moisture intrusion.
With the passenger side red lens off, I decided to put in LEDs on both sides, as long planned.

I kept going today, and adjusted the spacing on the high beam foot swtich and the Gear Vendors foot switch. I had originally mounted them both on a piece of wood that I screwed down to the factory mounting bracket. But I mounted them too close. Especially with winter boots, I was hitting one when I meant to hit the other. So I spaced the switches further apart, and this time used threaded inserts for wood and 8-32 bolts.
I had used sheet metal screws to originallly mount the wood on the bracket. This time I drilled out the bracket and used a Marson Rivet Nut Setter to put in some threaded inserts for sheet metal. I mounted the wood bracket with 10 - 24 bolts.
