    ZF-5 transmission not engaging

The 350s had a PTO on the TC front case half. You can easily open up a case when you get it out. Drain, take off the tail housing and take the rear case off and all the guts will still be in place. I think you need to pull a snap ring off the output shaft to get the rear case off.

    Tachometer adjustment ?

Check the sensor itself on the engine. Mine had frayed leads and sometimes went to 0RPM, even with no actual engine RPM change

    Remove injectors without removing pump?

You'll have to untorque several lines at once to get enough ability to move the lines out of the way. Undo all 4 on each side at once.

    Automatic tensioning parking brake adjustment

I had the exact same problem with my truck. The cable seemed about 4 inches short after rebuild. Here is what I did. I removed the parking brake assembly from the cab. Cleaned it and lubed it where possible. I didn't have the white clip. I put the cable into a bench vise. Bench press the...

    Radiator suggestions

I have 4 years on my 3 row champion one. I even had it pressure tested at a rad shop last year while I had the system apart for a new water pump... no issues whatsoever, but I know that not everybody's experience is the same.

'94 IDIT runs rough, low power, nearly overheating after Moose IP

Everybody probably has a theory of what may have happened. Allow me to state my guess: Some debris got into the oil pump and got stuck in the oil cooler. Pump was damaged and didn't flow enough oil to the motor. Bearings started to wear out. How the debris was generated in the first place is the...

Love my truck but really want/need 4x4

To echo an earlier idea, you can have a very strong 4x4 with a Dana 50. Same wheel bearings as a 60, strong gearset, and lots of people almost throw them away to upgrade to a 60. I bought a spare d50 axle, complete for $110. Dont expect to find a deal like that but do expect to buy one for less...

On the fence about tires (yep, another tire thread)

I'm planning to put duratracs on my rig this year. My buddy has them and they look awesome, grip well, and aren't as loud as you might expect. Another notable tire that I want to mention: We had an AWD Ford escape that ran regularly rotated firestone destination A/T tires. We put 95k on them...

    ATF and Diff oil recommendations

There are many opinions about oil as we have discussed here. For me I change driveline fluids every 30k regardless and so I buy a brand name at a good price and don't worry too much about it. I haven't researched Lucas gear oil's strict adherence to specs, but I would bet anybody that this oil...

    No front brakes

When I replaced my system, I had to bleed the master cylinder to itself first. I made 2 short lines that went from the outlets up into the reservior. I had to make the 2 flare connections with threaded fittings. Submerge the ends of the brake lines into the fluid in the reservoir. Pump and...

    ATF and Diff oil recommendations

ATF: Valvoline Max life gallon from Walmart. It goes in many things. Gear oil: 75w-140 Lucas oil, bought by the gallon from Amazon. My choices, to be cost effective but have decent stuff. I just bought another Lucas gallon recently to do other vehicles and prices are even lower now on Amazon.

    Fuel life?

I used 50 gallons of unpreserved diesel that was 2.5 years old, in full tanks, after doing body work. No issues whatsoever that I saw.

    '88 thru '97 differentials question

I am pretty sure that 87 to 97 are mostly the same. One main difference that I know of is the Pinion spline length is less for models before about 93. They are still stout but more at risk of the pinion failing. For models 93 and after they have a slightly longer yoke. I'm not sure if Ford...

    Fuel return line to tank

Look at the back of the engine down ward to look for leaks. Follow the line down and the connectors or line could be an issue. To replace bad or rusted lines... I used 5/16 steel brake lines for the majority of the runs and did short runs with gates barricade hose. Hose clamps also. Oreillys...

    replacing front crankshaft seal

I agree, check that it's not coming from the bolt area first. I attached a pic from the factory manual. There is a tool but they are very expensive if you can even find one on eBay. I made my own installer tool using the ford tool as a guide that attaches into the same 3 weld nuts on the...
