Thanks for the quick responses. All pumps involved are working correctly and flow to injectors has been repeatedly checked both by me and others who thought I hadn't done it correctly ;-) Have used block heater & checked glow plugs, used ether (no attempt to fire even with that). Possible Stuck Open Intake Valve and No Apparent Local Expertise....
Got an "86 F250 last year with 7.3 swap that ran fine for about 2 weeks. After that, no start. Replaced lift and injection pumps. Both are working as expected. ALL standard startup checks (prime, starter rpm, etc) were tried. Symptoms are no start and fuel vapor coming up through the intake and...- ormgott

OK... Shop opened valve cover... They said there is fuel vapor coming up from the crankcase past the pushrods when cranking and applying compressed air to the crankcase blows up as well. That would explain the vapor in the intake, since it would be coming through the crankcase ventilation...- ormgott

Cranking is very good. New and upgraded fuel filter was installed after the issue began, and fuel is getting to the injectors. A proper bleed was done. Like I said, even the shop is stumped... They'll end up charging me more than it's worth to dig too deep. Everybody seems to be going for the...- ormgott

No recent work done to engine prior that I know of. Bought truck about 2 months ago. Started and ran fine for several weeks. Got in one day and cranked it over, fingers slipped off the key. Went to start it and perfect crank but no fire from then til now. Fresh filter.- ormgott

Starter and batteries are good. Glow plugs are good. As I said earlier there's lots of fuel fog in the intake when cranking. Also feel airflow coming up from intake. Some fuel fog from exhaust as well.- ormgott

Pump was pulled clear of the gear and new pump aligned and slid into gear when installing, and engine/transmission weren't moved. I'd suspect a cam misalignment with the apparent compression release through the intake but can't see any way for that to happen.- ormgott

Yes to fuel shutoff working. Fuel is getting to the injectors. Zero response to fuel or safe use of starting fluid. Batteries and starter are full up to ***** as well.- ormgott

My '86 F250 with '92 7.3 has stumped me... Now it's stumped the repair shop. -cuss Was running perfectly, then just wouldn't start. So I replaced the lift pump with electric and that didn't work. Bought a Facet Dura-lift 20331 -- Will it work?
Bought a Facet Dura-lift pump for my '86 F-250 with '92-1/2 7.3 NA IDI. It was running fine after I bought it, then just didn't want to start. I've installed a Schrader valve in place of the ball valve the PO had installed. I get fuel out of the valve when cranking, but I believe someone said...- ormgott

Total Diesel Noob - - '86 F250 '92.5 7.3 NA
Checked the shut off solenoid and it clicks if I remove the connector with key on. Don't want to take up too much bandwidth on the Introduction section, so Ill shift to a more appropriate one.- ormgott

Oh, and yes I believe the dreaded shower head dropoff is a factor if the tank goes below 1/3-1/4. (Another easy-with-a-friend... haul the bed off and fix, pain in the tail by yourself)- ormgott
