Since the 088 turbo uses a special exhaust housing and up pipes that I assume wouldn't fit any other kit, you can't really change turbos w/o changing everything else. You can however change things on the compressor side of the turbo such as adding a wicked wheel or different compressor housing...
No it's not bad, no won't decrease the life of the pump. All it does is let the plungers in the pump move farther. I wouldn't turn the pump up very far (maybe 1 flat) if you don't have a turbo.
Yeah unfortunately around here I think the only choices are either figure it out yourself or empty out your wallet for a shop. I would totally volunteer some shop space or even give you some help but sadly I just don't have enough space or time. I hope you get 'er fixed. Nice to see someone else...
yeah sounds about right for a pump that's been turned up. if I were you I would turn the fuel back until you only get a very light amount of smoke coming out the exhaust under heavy load. any more than that and you're just ******* your money away in the form of smoke.
