When it acts up give the top of the dash a good hard slap and see if it straightens out for a bit or completely drops off. if it does either that tells you there is a bad ground/connection in the dash somewhere
As far as the low tach reading at idle goes, check for a bad ground. Mine does the same thing but as soon as you get over 1000 it catches back up. Ive tried 3 brand new senders and they all did the same thing, so ground is the only option left.
Yep, 4x4 ZF reverse needs rebuilt and it has a 460 bellhousing (just needs redrilled to fit an IDI). Id like to keep everything together and get rid of the whole bundle at once. And yes $1200 for the whole deal, I just need it gone and out of my way haha

Ok, thanks guys. i ended up soaking it in deep creep while i was at work and clamped on it with a pair of vise grips when i got back. Gave it a few twists and it pulled free.
