So what did you do with your truck today?

I added 2 quarts of oil today. Seems i'm getting lots of oil past the CDR based on the puddle in the intake tube. Anyone had any luck with the chinesium CDR valves? I'm sure OEM is better, but at 1/6 the cost, I'm seriously considering it.

Nice choice. I've been pretty happy with my GO15s.

So what did you do with your truck today?

After further review, I think I was imagining the 10PSI at 1800. In reality I’m seeing more like 7. Still can’t complain about that though. I think the sidewinders are just a smaller turbo, so you get more psi, and faster spool up, but higher RPM and PSI you get high drive pressures and risk...

    Strange Cruise Control Issue

I had the exact same issue with my truck before I replaced the clockspring/turn signal switch behind the steering wheel. Mine is an '88 with vacuum cruise though.

Anyone hotshot trucking in an IDI?

Yep. I looked into this quite extensively a couple years ago. The legal GCWR is too low since our diesels were gutless from the factory. If you legally could tow what the truck is truly capable of it would be a different story.

So what did you do with your truck today?

I’ve got a wastegated banks sidewinder in an ‘88 7.3 with an unknown age reman pump turned up. With the wastegate unplugged I’ll get 18ish PSI easy, but that’s a bit too risky for me without head studs, hence me trying to tune the wastegate. I was shooting for 14ish PSI, but the banks wastegate...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Did some more wastegate tuning. Shortened the actuator rod as short as it'll go, and still only got between 11 and 12 PSI, so I I added the assistance of a spring from a lawnmower governor. This got me up to 13ish PSI and I think i'll call that good for now until I see how it runs with a load...

So what did you do with your truck today?

So just for fun, I unhooked the boost line going to the wastegate (and plugged the port in the housing) to see what happened, and took her for a rip. Seems like that lost a small amount of spool under 2k rpms (could be my imagination) but I was able to go into uncharted land on my banks boost...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Good to know! That was my thought, drop boost a little, cooler air is a trade off or gain a bit of HP. I’ve seen about 11PSI on the gauge with 14k behind it going up a hill, but that’s it. thought the wastegate was set to 10 PSI on the Banks Sidewinders. I’ll hit that 10 PSI regularly and at as...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Installed my new glow plug harness from Roderick today. Hopefully that ends my hard starting issues as all 8 glow plugs ohmed out good. Being under the hood got me thinking though. I have access to a 7.3PSD SD intercooler and piping. Would it be worthwhile to intercool a sidewinder? I know...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Has been a good couple of days for the old girl. Got a new junkyard column in, blue top box, reman PS pump and El duble junkyard pully Off a 6.9 cuz I bent the stock one with my jaw puller trying to get it off. Fresh PS lines and brake pads and I think we’ll be good to go for a few miles...

    High Idle/Cold Advance Question

yep, the high idle solenoid is rarely strong enough to push the throttle out on it's own anyways, there needs to be a throttle depress to move it out for it to hold. At least it never has on the 3 different IDIs i've owned. All the high idle and cold advance wiring was "deleted" by a previous...

    High Idle/Cold Advance Question

The high idle temp sensor is bypassed in my truck, so I put the high idle on a toggle. Great for longer idling or battery charging here when it’s -50. Starts WAY easier than without.

    Anti Gel Product (Howes)

I had a gel up here in MN last week. The 911 saved my bacon and have been using Howes since with no issues. I'm not partial to either PS or howes, but Howes is usually a bit cheaper around here.

    Air Conditioner question

it sounds like a dirty condenser or evaporator given it works well for so long. The cheap option would be to clean them out and see what that does.
