I recommended cutting the old filter open and checking for trash. Trash in the system can block fuel flow and lower the PSI. Then turning the IP up to add more fuel. Once the flow was restored by draining the filter AKA maybe some trash, which causes the excess black smoke. Due to the fuel being...
What brand filter is it? I recommend Wix filters for everything.
How old is the filter?
You can always get a new filter and cut the old filter open to inspect the media to see if there is a lot of trash in it. You never know. You may have trash in your tanks. A inline fuel filter will help with...
Brings back memorys of when I first bought my IDI. Those lift pumps are cheap around $30. Just make sure you get the arm under the camshaft when you install it in the block. I recommend not installing it dry. Put some assembly lube on the arm so it is not dry on the cam when you start the truck.
I second the LED brake lights. Take the LED's out and put incandescent bulbs in it. Also make sure the third brake light is working on top of the cab. TC lockup is controlled by the braking circuit as mentioned above. Quick way to burn up a good TC.
Tighten the valve cover bolts. They are bad about backing off. Mine looked the same way. Put a wrench on it and snugged them up and problem was solved.
I would just about bet that your IP timing is to advanced. The best way to time it is with a diesel pulse adapter and a timing light. Or you can retard it just a half of the thickness of a dime by loosing the IP using the 3 nuts holding the IP to the IP gear housing. If you do that always mark...
Did the mechanic check the timing of the IP? New lines can introduce air into the system. Was the return lines changed as well? If not they can introduce air into the system as well. Air intrusion in a diesel will cause a miss. If it is missing, you can crack each injector line one at a time...
Yeah I have been looking into the exhaust system. I think I am going to upgrade that down pipe when I have to redo the exhaust system due to age. So one above I believe said that Ford restricted it so it wouldn’t out preform other models.
My truck does have 4.10 gears and it makes the RPM’s...
Napa Gold filter is what I am running and will probably continue to run. As I like Napa products compared to others. But I will try any recommendations if someone has had better luck with other brands. Power is great so I plan on leaving everything stock and original just for nostalgia. I guess...
Thank you for the detailed info. I found very little detail as well. I can only assume there is a collective value. If not it’s a great conversation piece as it is a lost art these days. With the way vehicles are going these days, I will stay with the lost art.
Does anyone know what company did the Show Trucks USA line up for Ford back in the early 1990. I have a 1994 Ford F350 Show Truck USA Edition. I am having a hard time finding any info on them. I have only see a couple of them in the past. It always seemed like everyone was a little different. It...
The filter is small. It didnt look like it had been in long but was starting show debris, so I changed it. That is correct. I have the aluminum filter housing on top of the motor. Then the air inlet is plumped to the front of the hood from there. At the front of the hood it gets narrow...
I have been looking into some upgrades to help her breathe more. I never would have thought about the down pipe. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. Also would it be worth going with an aftermarket air filter housing? The factory setup looks like it is restrictive. I know air flow is...
