6.9idi head retorqueing.
Hey guys, sorry it's been a while. Since retorqueing. My 6.9 still runs like a champ. Have lost track of miles but its used no coolant. Has Hot heat, no bubbles. No leaks.. It is leaking a good amount of motor oil from the heads but hey. Its an old truck. I haven't done a compression test...- JacobHansen

So strange.. it didn't leak any oil today.. well nothing notable.. and yes there's plenty in there. Im not convinced it sealed its self after a week of sitting.. After cleaning up the area in the picture I posted it hasn't had any oil build up or leaks at all. 40 mile ride this afternoon and not...- JacobHansen

It's from what I can tell a leak at the head gasket in the rear of the passenger side the small bolt to the oil galley is not the leak.. VC gaskets are new. I did retorque to 130lbs. The leak is pretty severe when the engine gets to operating temp. But it doesn't leak cold or on short drives...- JacobHansen

Ok guys thought I'd update and ask a few questions. Many many miles and worked pretty hard most days. Still no combustion leaks or loss of coolant. Truck still runs great after retorqueing the heads. Ok. I did the oil change...... wow almost 5 gallons came out.. maybe had over filled it huh? also found the dipstick tube was not in very far!. So i filled the filter then added 10 quarts. While I had it the shop I also removed the passenger VC. Inspected the gasket and surfaces. All checked...- JacobHansen

Can I completely eliminate it being the heads leaking due to the oil being above the head to block surfaces? I haven't had the chance yet to pull it apart yet . Going to try tonight. But while looking at it. There is definitely oil above the head gasket. But as stated its soaked under there too...- JacobHansen

Ok. That's what I was hoping to hear. I'll pull the cover and take a better look. Just got some oil so waiting on the filter. I'll pull the VC and post back what I find. Any ideas on how to un plug that drain hole if it is plugged? Jam a thin rod down it? Maybe air pressure would do it. Thanks.- JacobHansen

Heads are still holding strong compression and truck runs amazing was driving it daily until snow fall....although I'm losing oil bad on the passengers side head area. Has new VC gaskets and I made sure to snug up the hard to reach bolts good. My question now is.. how much oil should remain...- JacobHansen

C6 shutters in reverse.
Ok so i started it up this morning. Went into gear fine back right up. I let it run for a little while. Maybe 4 minutes then checked the fluid. It was way over full. Im going to go ahead and change the fluid. Change the filter thing too. Could over full cause this? It only has the problem it...- JacobHansen

C6 shutters in reverse.
Ok guys im looking for some help. My 4x4 c6 transmission. Shifts a little late on cold mornings. But smooth shifts. Normal shift is around 1800-2200rpm late is around 3000rpm (in my opinion) Its always been a little late going into reverse. Not more then 4-6 seconds. Witch seems like forever...- JacobHansen

Updated, its been quite some time and have been using this f350 pretty heavily and not extremely easy miles. Must be over 10k since retorqueing the heads. Have not experienced one problem yet with the cooling system. Absolutely no bubbing, steaming, only smokes a little on start up.. Id say...- JacobHansen

Now thats what I was thinking. Wow nice work on those! I was thinking of using diamond plate if I go that route. I think my plan will be to make an insert simular to that. Maybe remove the clear case or some of it. and have the oil and temp covered by new ones, so the speedo and fuel can still...- JacobHansen

Where do we put the oil pressure line on the motor? On the 6.9? Im sure the 7.3 is same. I didn't see any good spot. How is the one above the dash? A good spot for it? Iv been debating mounting out front of the o.e.m. gauges.- JacobHansen

Who has pictures of there gauge pods, triple or dual. I'm looking to install a set for oil and water. But want something tasteful not just screwed on dashboard. Before I go cutting and re arranging. How's it set up and where did you put it?- JacobHansen
