You missed the center contact on the 7-pole round. Continuity is a handy tool for quick checking. But it can report "connected" when there is not a good enough connection to keep a brake light on as well as showing continuity _through_ the brake/turn light as you are reporting. Probably. :) The issue is the _interface_ between the truck and trailer, which does not limit it to the trailer wiring on the truck. Suppose the other trucks have a solid ground through the hitch and this one doesn't so the trailer ground wire problem only shows up on this truck Or maybe...- fmiser

2001 F550 - OBD II?
This is the first vehicle I'm maintaining that is new enough to have on-board diagnostics. I'm trying to figure out for sure if this one is OBD I or OBD II. I'm finding that the heavier trucks were not required to have it in '96 like cars. Some sites say "check the sticker under the hood"...- fmiser

Newbie with a 2001 F550
unlock is CCW - Thanks! I suspected a vacuum leak - on a failed vacuum servo. Do you know of a vacuum diagram or other troubleshooting aid? I thought I looked rather carefully for a fill plug - maybe I need a brighter light.- fmiser
