Great! Thanks I can see exactly what's going on with the shoes, and how the actuator gets rounded off also. Man that's good to know about. I'll be in great shape if I can figure out how to use one of these new (to me) brake spring tools. No moving parts and they sill look like a brain teaser...
I think I have the right tools, except I need to pick up a brake spoon...
Pretty sure its actually a 94 1/2 IDI turbo, and it has slide off drums thank God.
BigBrand just did a free brake inspection on my 95 Dually (and thus got everything loose and workable) and found that just about everything is shot. So, I'll be doing drums and shoes, and also wheel cylinders and hardware. I haven't done a job like this in 30 years. BTW, I did the fronts last...
Thank you for the explanation.
Maybe I'll wire up a delay timer so it only has to come on once, without interruption. I don't think that'll fix the pioneer AVH-whatever it is... but, maybe it'll save it from getting worse...
BTW Brian, I have a set of magnetic wireless Bluetooth trailer lights...
Was this incorrectly installed?
When I turn on my key to excite the glow plugs the stereo begins to initialize because power is on. 20 seconds or so later when the glow plugs click off, I turn the key to start, and the radio dies at whatever stage of initialization it was at. Once engine starts...
The exhaust break caught my eye. I’ve seen a fair amount of debate about whether we could use these on an IDI…. Not that they’re available anywhere anyhow, but it’s interesting to see one being used.

Man what a cool truck.... I just saw it on CL and thought I'd turn you all on to it... Rare bird.
Ugg! My 94 IDI windshield wipers do the exact same thing. Drives me nuts too. I once tried to reshaped the wiper with a heat gun to no avail. I ended up trying a few blades from Autozone and finally went with the flimsiest ones on the shelf and still have the same issue. Glad it never rains in...
I ended up with a junkyard pump and pulley, so the issue is fixed, for now..... I'm not sure how my old pulley got bent, perhaps I did it with the puller. I dunno. But i do know that I'm going to replace it with a new pump before I go on any long trips with a trailer full of horses! What a PIA...
