Zd29s vs Zd9s...for the inquiring mind...

Fellow Ohmists, I am in the process of changing my glow plugs today. I got eight ZD29s from O'Reilly. They all came in Ford Motorcraft labeled plastic bags saying "made in Germany". Stamped on the barrels between the threads and glow tip are ZD29 2216 E2510 061143...

    1993 E4OD torque converter

I found a youtube channel called Transmission Bench, and the guy is, like one commenter wrote, the Bob Ross of transmission rebuilding. He makes you believe in yourself that you can do it. He has a thread on E4OD rebuilding.

    Selling upgraded drop in fans!

even without a shroud(which I highly recommend you run a stock shroud) What do you mean by this? Taking the shroud off?

    Selling upgraded drop in fans!

I am very interested to hear some reports too. I am often limited by engine temps when towing in the mountains.

So what did you do with your truck today?

Fuel filter light was coming on, so I went in to change the thing. I was reminded that the last time I did this I swore I was going to move the filter down to the frame rail. I just looked again at R&D but those parts have been out of stock for a long time. I am thinking about fabricating a...

    Torque converters

I would vote for a low speed stall converter. AAMCO replaced my C6 in 2012 with a 2100 RPM stall speed TC, and my vehicle struggled for years going up grades. I finally figured out to put in a 1500 RPM TC from Hughes, and it was night and day. Grades that used to be a challenge, with engine and...

Biting the bullet: Converting to electric fuel pump

I don't know what the actual fuel pressure is between the lift pump and the IP. I am left wanting to plumb a gauge in. Does there exist a send unit to splice into the fuel line that would wire to a fuel pressure gauge in the cab?

Biting the bullet: Converting to electric fuel pump

Reading this thread is the first time I have thought of running two electric lift pumps. I put in a Facet Dura Lift model # 40295 that produces 9 - 11.5 psi, and have really enjoyed the ease of refilling the line and factory filter after a filter change. For pump longevity I put a simple barrel...

    Camshaft possibilities?

Hello Russ I am hearing that your cam is good for torque at lower RPMs. Is it better than the factory IDIT cam? And, what does it do to EGTs? Rolf 1989 Ford E 350 Born Free "President" Converted to 4WD 7.3 IDIT (factory turbo engine with Hypermax van kit) - C6 - NP 205 - GV - 3.54...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Thanksgiving drive: Late night I note the headlights flickering. The under dash spade socket from which I have been running power to the voltmeter has gotten loose, so it is easy to lose the volt meter. I can't check the voltage to insure the alternator is charging, but joining the coach...

    DB2 Tuning Guide

TheWesPaul, what pressure did you need to make it work when you opened up the flow in the pump housing return fitting? Did you just turn your adjustable lift pump pressure up until the engine ran smooth? What was it like when the pressure wasn't dialed in correctly?

Summer of upgrades, and then a problem

Genscripter, you are actually the reason I put in the Wicked Wheel 2 compressor wheel. I figured, who else has a same generation van with a 7.3 Hypermax IDIT - C6 - GV? Your glowing report on your website got me to pull the trigger. My rig was converted by a local mechanic. We took the NP205...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I kept going today, and adjusted the spacing on the high beam foot swtich and the Gear Vendors foot switch. I had originally mounted them both on a piece of wood that I screwed down to the factory mounting bracket. But I mounted them too close. Especially with winter boots, I was hitting one...
